goblin
I'm gunna add to this! Had the Model 126 for a while (my first gigging amp was a 470!), picked up for peanuts as was untested and didn't have a mains lead on it - a week with my mate who's an amp tech / electronics genius, and he said it was all okay, absolutely safe and put a new mains lead on it! As for the cab, I've just been down to Hampshire and back today to collect this 406... getting it up the front steps to my house with my old man wasn't the most fun of tasks
Maxn
At last I found a 402 cab. It's not the right can to match the 370 but it all works well. Got the cab of eBay with no drivers so after a lot of researching decided on Eminence Delta 15's. I wanted JBL K140's but couldn't find any. Well I did but couldn't get to the seller who had them because of work. The cab is in very good condition. Managed to get Penn castors for it witch just slotted straight in! It's a good can with a nice smooth sound! Very versatile for 2 15's not too heavy. Not sure of the if its true but the chap I got it off said it once belonged to Jeff Lynn of ELO! No proof but cool to think so if true. Maxn
Found some K140's after a long search on EBay. Gig this weekend so will see how they go! So far they are a little brighter than the Eminence 15's and far more efficient. Look retro too haha
Chimike
How did the cab perform at the gig ? I have Ev's in mine, great sound, but the best speakers I've tried in a 402 were the Eminence Kappalites ! Mike.
Maxn
Forgot to post a reply, yes done a few gigs with it with the K140's now about the same amount as the Eminence Deltas that were in there first. I would say the JBL''s have a little more warmth and more upper mid range attack. The Eminence driver had lots more Bothom End grunt but no upper mid's. Surprised as there sensitivity and slightly higher frequency response say otherwise but hey it is a 15" speaker and I'm more use to 10's and 12's for bass guitar. Overall I'm will be leaving the JBL's in there. They do have a lovely sound too them. I see why they are so regarded by people in the know! cd_david
Well, done it again. Bought another 406 after restoring one and selling it last year. Found this one on eBay. It's in good original condition so I think just some basic remedial tidying and maybe new drivers but no more. Chimike
Well, I'm having a sort out, but after finding, and using my 370 head, and 403 cab the other night, ( blew me away ), I think I'll just sell my more modern gear ! However, I do have a nice 126 combo I'm unlikely to use again. And, after finding a genuine early 301 cab fo restore, I have a partly finished 301 replica cab I would sell. Rick's Fine '52
Latest purchase, 220 Head and 402 cab. I love the slimline cab, some of the others are just too deep and bulky, but this is a great little rig. All original, and fab condition. Has the wooden pedal too.

Mike, sincere apologies for the slow response, sine the basschat changeover, my notifications were turned off, so didn't pick this up, you must have thought me somewhat rude! Here's the pedal. To be honest I don't know how scarce these are. you wouldn't think so, as they probably came with all the heads back in the day? https://imgur.com/a/TTFjd

bumnote
I had a pedal with my 450 but it was a round metal one. I think it was a twin but the memory is a bit grey.

How is the definition on the 301? Is it too subby or quite articulate? Thanks
bumnote
I doubt if Mark King would get on with it, but I quite liked it. I bought the 406/450 because at the time I couldnt afford the 370/301 and by the time I did buy one, it was really overkill for the gigs I was doing, and a bit too much for my poor old back. Chimike is using a 370 with a bitsa 4x10 which i have used on a number of occasions and its one of the best sounding amps i have used. Maxn
Just finished restoring this 301. Was looking a bit sorry for itself. Original CV 18” was still working well! It sounds great with the 370. Here is a before and after!!; 2
