ShuttleMAX 9.2 compared to ShuttleMAX 12.2

Hi folks,

Just checking my understanding of this, the outputs of the 9.2 are parallel so whichever speakon output I use for a single cab will get either of the channels through them (if I wanted to switch from the FET to the Tube and vice versa).

However on the 12.2 version the outputs are per amp, one for amp a and one for amp b. So if I only have one cab and use the amp a output I won't get any sound if I wanted to switch to the other channel. If I did I'd need to use two cabs. Even further to this each channel would come out of the separate cabs, so each time I used one channel on it's own I'd only be using one cab. Bit of a bummer if your cabs are different sizes with therefore different characteristics. Also the only way to get the most power would be to mix the channels limiting your sound options!

Hopefully I misunderstand this!

mmmm, makes things a bit more interesting then! Thanks for the info Nick. I did think it would have been an odd design to have. Just seems odd to have the speakon outputs labelled differently on the 9.2! it might be a contender for a new amp over the Streamliner 900 I was considering. I think the versatility and usability probably outweigh the specifics of the Streamliners sound. Will have to have a bit of a think!

Yeah, I've just re-read the manuals and I've confused the channels with the power amps, donkey lol!! The more I think about it the more this grows on me for it's tweakability. As I only want a bit of warmth, not full out drive, and prefer a clean channel for fretless stuff I think I might go for it over the streamliner. The drive I would get from the Tube channel would be better than on my Shuttle 6.0 and that is nearly there, just not quite enough grit though! Also if I get another couple of cabs I could knock down small buildings with the power :P

I'm very tempted by these amps at the minute too. Great deals on GAK and bassdirect.co.uk (£600 :o ) I just have to get rid of what I've got and prey that xmas doesn't rinse my bank account too bad. From what I have seen they look really versatile and I like that it has two separate power amps to save dicking around worrying about the impedance of your speakers :)
