[/quote] I agree its important for the B to have some breathing space, but this same layout works very well on the Lakland necks (and Wal) too, where the angle of the headstock gives the B plenty of space, and although the Roscoe headstock has a totally different shape, the tuner spacing and layout is very similar, and would think equally well balanced. Off the top of my head I cannot think of many basses that are not 5, 4+1 or 3+2 layout, but I feel sure plenty of fine examples will now be suggested and I'll have to take back this foolish comment!!
