Here's the crazing on the rear of the headstock. This was achieved by leaving the guitar in its case in my car during the sub-zero freezing temperature then bringing it in to a toasty warm apartment. Looks cool though!

Nice to see this thread resurrected. I love the look of this style of Tele but I'm also a fan of the Thinline look too; oh my look at what Fender have done, way too rich for my blood (as I only play 6 string at home) at £1400, but wow!

Thanks for the new comments guys. The Olympic White Jazz Bass which I recently completed turned out really well.

A guitarist friend of mine is a huge Rush fan, so I'm looking at doing a replica Arctic White Gibson 335 like Alex Lifeson's own guitar. That'll be a big job.

That Jazz is lovely BTW.

Yippee! The Andy Summers Tele is coming back home.

My brother loves it, but he never paid for it! Hahaha. Taking advantage of his big brother's generosity. So, I'm getting it back, and my brother can simply borrow it if he needs to in the future.

I'm looking at a new amp - I like this by Stevie Flynn:

Well, I've now got the guitar back. I'd forgotten just how well it had turned out - it plays and sounds great. The brass bridge plate and saddles give the guitar a really smooth tone. There's no top end "harshness".

the finish has crazed just as I had hoped it would. There's a few knocks on the body now which gives the guitar a nicely "played-in" look. I had rolled the fingerboard edges befoe applying the lacquer.

Here's some pics showing the lacquer crazing. This hasn't been achieved with freezing or cutting. Rather, the way the lacquer is applied can influence this.

On the rear of the headstock the lacquer is nicely lined:

On the body, when the guitar was completed it looked pristine.

now, the face of the guitar is totally crazed:

Thanks mate.

another thing I did after having the instrument assembled was to slightly amend the bridge saddles. I had previously mentioned that I had sanded the sharp edges to make them smoother to the touch,

when the saddles arrived, the centre holes looked like this:

I gently filed and sanded the "points" to give a smoother feel when resting your hand on the bridge. It also meant the holes were amended to look more like the original ones on Andy's Telecaster.

Here's the "after" picture:
