Rather than getting Warwick wax, whats a decent alternative?..if any..colron? :blush: Im quite a wax virgin. Oh yeah, I'll post up porn pics of my Two "W's" tomorrow Thanks in advance. Over on Talkbass, these was a thread where the consensus seemed to be anything that would feed the wood would do. One guy was using gun-stock oil. For the neck, use oil rather than wax so it doesn't feel sticky - tung oil is fine, gun stock is better (dries quicker and harder). The Warwick wax seems expensive, but I prefer it because it produces a softer, thinner finish than most furniture waxes, and it works on the neck without feeling sticky. If the bass is old and grubby I'd suggest a clean all over with steel wool ( the plastic stuff doesn't stick to your pickups) followed by a coat or two of tung/gunstock oil. No dings, scratches, except a lil' thumb rash you get above the PU, it doesn't feel grubby atm. I this is advice in advance. I think with this one the neck is all wenge :wacko: and the fretboard are as one (I see no seam-line to indicate its two parts, or maybe I have bad eyes... So if this the case, maybe it means oil all for neck 'n' fretboard? Here's a pic of it, try and get a side view if poss. And heres the body, I didn't realise colron did a wax polish, only finish? So if this the case, maybe it means oil all for neck 'n' fretboard?[/quote] Your fingerboard is a nice thick slab of wenge but the neck is separate laminates of wenge and maple/cherry/unpronounceablewoodthatIalwaysforget. I've never yet been able to establish exactly which wood is used for the thin stringers through the neck; even the Warwick forum has differing opinions but I always assumed that it would be the same wood as used on the body... makes sense commercially and for stability! All good info for waxing/oiling/feeding the bass and lemon-oil etc is good for the fingerboard but you don't need to go beserk with any cleaner/nourisher. clauster Posted November 24, 2008 Share Posted November 24, 2008 TBH haven't tried it yet Johnny, I needed a new straplock and wanted to try the JAN3 and when I ordered them from Warwick I got a new tin of wax at the same time.
