Hey guys,

I've been talking to my friend; who's active in a few local bands in the midlands, playing various genres when we got on to the subject of basses when he said he's had his eye on a Warwick Katana 5 string but wanted to know what i thought.
I've never really picked up a Warwick, yet alone the specific model he wants, so i just wondered if anyone had any good/bad points on this bass.

Anything is appreciated but more so from people who have gigged with them or owned one for a while.

Regards,

BSB

The Warwick Katana is really fantastic! Its design makes it very comfortable to play, and it was named after the Japanese Samurai Sword "Katana" because of its ability to cut-through the mix! The combination of woods and construction methods make it really stand out from the Warwick line-up. If he's wondering about feel...it is designed for comfort! Scott Reeder is our latest endorser to order a Katana! Let me know if I can assist in any way. Thanks!

Played one down the bass gallery.

Lovely bass, well suited toward metal particularly. Would cut through the mix well and was very comfortable to play. Sounded amazing through a GK rig and had a great "growl" to it.

The look isn't for everyone but I've always liked it. it's fairly versatile with an incredible amount of lowend to it if you feel like dialling it all the way in.

The Katana is one I often viewed as Warwick best budget bass when you look at what you get for the money.

NT design, ebony board, flame maple top, flame maple neck.

It is a very pretty bass, I played a few over the years including a custom shop built for Nick Douglas which was amazing.

Used to have a Thumb NT 5 years back and it was really really nice but a bit clinical for me at the time, might be tempted by one of these Katana though!

The Gallery have a used one in at around £1k it's blue though and I liked the natural one :(
