No did not see the 2 tone bridges. I will probably go for the lightweight Hipshot A and thru body stringing.
Here ya go. I think it would look great with a bright white paint job... not so sure with the off white... guess you'd have to lay them out together for a better idea. We both know though, that to be honest, hardware colour are the last thing on your list!

I was kindly given his slap bass book as an xmas present and it looks pretty good stuff but I just have not had time to look at it yet!

I have never learnt how to do the tapping thing but have to admit that it sounds fantastic! Great for a bass solo!!
Yep - an arrangement from his forthcoming solo book. I can't wait to get my hands on that book! His books are excellent.
Yeah - its good. I could never get the tapping thing sounding any good. But then I got my first decent bass. It all started to come. I'm still working on it but I'm getting there. Got a couple of wooten tracks I am working on which are happening quite nicely now.

Hey Ferret - I remember discussing this finish with the man. Its made from many multi-laminates which then became the facing laminate of the guitar. I think he still has a piece - he showed it me once when discussing finishes. I think its behind the door on one of the shelves. That's where all the wood is anyway as you know. Anyway, nice harlequin!

PS there is a fretless from the same era in the gallery at the moment although the finish isn't quite like that one!

Nice bass dude!

I emailed Bernie a little while back when I first got the bass, and was pleased to receive a response. Part of the email gives the following information :-

"The construction of this bass is a Brazilian Mahogany core with man made
veneer back and front and on the headstock. The veneer is individual dyed
pieces of wood glued together and sliced at an angle which gives the
Harlequin effect.

From what I can see of the neck it is Maple and possibly Puduk laminates
with an Ebony, Macassa Ebony or Rosewood fingerboard, it is hard to tell
from the photograph."

I've had a close look and I'm sure the fingerboard is rosewood.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. Glad to be part of the club! ;)

Hey that’s my bass! Bernie made the maple neck for her back in October. It's amazing she’s now been immortalised in an ad in Bass Player Mag. Oh and hi it's my first post ;)
