Hi all,
I'm looking at buying a bass which is described as having a Palisander fingerboard!! Although in the picture it looks more maple in colour than rosewood, info on Google suggests that it is indeed a form of Rosewood.

Has anyone any more info on this please?

Ta

Yep, Also if you ever see Rio Palisander thats Brazillian Rosewood.

So Brazilian Rosewood is lighter in colour than standard rosewood that you would normally get on say a P bass? If so is it harder or softer as that's gonna affect the sound quite a bit yeah?

[/quote] no, colours vary. 60s genders were Brazilian rosewood. It's a protected export now so hard to get.

I think it is a mixture of language and the fact that so many woods are categoresed under the Rosewood family
My shack had a Padouk board really nice Lefay do basses with complete Padouk necks, this was considered in the rosewood family. more red than brown, would love to try one
