clashcityrocker Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 hi all,have been reading that sticking a 4x10 with my 2x10 cab could ruin the 2x10 as its working twice as hard? the amp is a ashdown abm 575watt and the 2x10 is a abm 350watt 2x10. would be getting a abm 4x10 600w or something else. am i right in thinking this would be a problem if i was playing at full volume (nearly 300watts going into 2x10) please any advice would be great! thanks simon Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
skychaserhigh Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 I've been using Hartke 4x10 and 2x10 cabs together for 10 years now and never had a problem. It's true that the smaller cab works a bit harder but not much more. I've used various heads with these cabs over the years and they have all worked perfectly so I don't think you need worry ! DirkThrust Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 (edited) What is the impedance of the 2x10? if it's 8 ohm and your 4x10 is 4 ohm then it wouldn't be working twice as hard as it won't be drawing so much power. Lozz196 Posted January 21, 2012 Share Posted January 21, 2012 I had an Ampeg 410 & 210 used together. The 410 would handle 500 watts, the 210 would handle 250 watts. I put a 450 watt amp through it, and was nowhere near pushing it, just about at 4 on volume, so each cab was ok. And it sounded great.
