warwickhunt Posted January 7, 2012 Share Posted January 7, 2012 I have a Parker Fly bass with a dead E string piezo; it has been tested this morning and is defo an ex-piezo, deceased, shuffled off mortal coil etc! I contacted Parker a few weeks back re. this and they just got back to me to say that basically they couldn't help and don't manufacture this bass any more and as such couldn't supply a replacement. I have a feeling it is a fairly 'stock' bridge-saddle piezo as it looks outwardly identical to my Bolin piezo saddle but I'm no closer to knowing the manufacturer (though I'm certain the Bolin is a Fishman unit). Owen Posted January 7, 2012 Share Posted January 7, 2012 I tried to buy the Bolin unit from Fishman and they just would not play ball. Have I mentioned that I loved that Fishman unit? Anyway, they said OEM only. It might be poss if a luthier buys it for you or you create a guitar company and contact them through your bespoke company email. Clarky Posted January 7, 2012 Share Posted January 7, 2012 (edited) I would be interested in the answer as I have toyed with buying an Ibanez Affirma and the piezo bridge, as I understand it, is often a bit rubbish. So if the piezo units could be replaced with modern equivalents it could sort the problem. Sorry if its a bit OT! Only problem is the housing is a different shape to that used by Parker so it wouldn't match, unless you could transplant the piezo 'saddle' Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ikay Posted January 7, 2012 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Piezos saddles need to be matched for output and frequency response. Mixing and matching from a different supplier would most likely result in an imbalance of volume and tone. If you can get a single saddle of the same type from Fishman that should be OK though. ACGs are generally fitted with Hipshot/Graphtech piezo loaded bridges. These don't match yours but it may be worth asking Alan if he can get a Fishman one on your behalf. Alternatively replace the lot with a set of ABMs from Thomann (these also use Graphtech saddles). Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Mark [/quote] I searched the Parker forum and asked Parker direct but to no avail. The Ibanez one is defo different as the Parker is a Fishman unit, going to contact them Monday for price.
