iconic Posted October 31, 2011 Share Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) well, as it says....although I'm an Ernie Ball man (flats and rounds) I'm not spending half the value of my bass on the strings for what will be my the car site beater bass...and besides it's good to try different things. These extremely underrated flats are every bit as good as the usual expensive suspects and half the price (£14 for medium scale / £17 for long scale). I have a set on my Shuker '51 and they sing - I have TI's on other basses (which are ok like) but they sound flabby in comparison. Quite interested in a cheap set of flats myself, just to try them out, as i've never used them before, so this could be of use to me, and £16?! Beer of the Bass Posted November 1, 2011 Share Posted November 1, 2011 Picato are definitely at the darker, thumpier end of flats, at least when I've tried them. A new set of Picato flats were darker sounding than D'addario Chromes which had been on for a year. If that's the sound you're going for, you may like them, and they look and feel well made.
