Buying pedal enclosures

Hi,

I've got some rehousings and other bits and pieces I'd like to do, but I can't find anywhere in the UK that sells a decent range of diecast aluminium enclosures. Does anybody know of anywhere that does? I'd rather not have to buy them in from overseas if I don't have to.

I use Banzai as well. They are the only European based company that I have found that sell ready powder coated boxes.

Does anyone know a supplier for a long, thin enclosure?

I need one to house 5 footswitches in a row.... so I guess about 300mm long.

It only need be about 30mm high (as a typical effect pedal) and About 60mm deep.

I've used one from banzai that's as long as your request but is 70mm square in depth and height. I can't find it right now (just about to go watch Gorillaz) but I think Umph has a link somewhere.

Think you might have a problem buying something that shape "off the shelf" as I can't think of a generic use for it.
Perhaps take a look at companies selling aluminium extrusion by the metre, cut it off to the right length and make a pair of end panels to fit?
There's also metal conduit, usually galvanised steel - usually from electrical wholesalers and again sold by length.

Ok.
How about a cheap "no frills" pedal board (Stagg or something like that?), put some 1/2" wooden battens around the inside edges and make a plate out of a sheet of mild steel to sit on top of them?

Or perhaps something knocked up out of 19" blanking plates and some L brackets?

Thanks for the creative suggestions - I think I'd rather have the rigidity of cast aluminium construction, but keep them coming!
