Jondeeman
Is this guy being totally straight? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPECTOR-PEARL-WH...=item27bcd29055 Don't remember Sting playing one of these - his NS-2 had P/J pups, didn't it? Also, sure I saw some kicking around UK shops... not made in The Czech Republic for US market only? Lovely bass... appreciate any comments? keeptrying
You could always go to Spector's website and ask them a few questions about the bass, the number off the back of the headstock should be enough for them to be able to tell you year and country of origin at least. I did this and found them most helpful after I had bought one made in Korea.
warwickhunt
Sting's Spector was a white PJ thru-neck but Cetera would know the craic with this model I'm sure.
cetera
This is neither an NS2A or a 'Sting' bass. It is in fact an NS2J-AR & 83 were made in each of 3 colours - black, white & natural. These are Czech-made 'Anniversary' reissues of the twin J pick 1983 US-made NS2J basses. Sting used an early 80's US-made NS2 bass with p & j pickups. Jondeeman
Thanks gents, useful info... I had a feeling that a little creative "upselling" was taking place.
darkandrew
Thanks gents, useful info... I had a feeling that a little creative "upselling" was taking place.
I sent him an email when I first saw the listing questionning the model and the Sting connection but he's not replied nor updated the listing. This sort of upselling is not uncommon, I've lost count of the number of times I've seen a Squire listed as a Fender or a bass with passive pickups (usually EMG Hz) listed as having active pickups. At least this guy is showing a little imagination.
