MatthewKeys
It's only just crossed my mind.. I don't think i've ever seen a fretless fender jazz bass with a maple fretboard? Does anyone have one, and what do you think of it? Is there a reason why these don't exist? Edited July 5, 2011 by MatthewKeys
The very first fretless I ever played was a Jazz with a maple board. So long ago (late 70's) I can't remember clearly but it might have been defretted. Can't recall any dot or block inlays though.
muttley
I'm sure there was a Fender bass with fretless maple neck posted FS here recently. Could have been a Precision, though. I'll see if I can find the thread. edit: it was a Precision. Sorry. Ou7shined
Seems like an opening for the next big Squier phenominon... well at least it would be half original.
MatthewKeys
Yeah there seems to be a lot more fretless precisions with a maple fingerboard.. But as for jazz, none!

wateroftyne
Fender-wise, the only 'factory' examples I can think of were a matching special order LPB and CAR pair, that had bound necks and matching headstocks that popped up a while ago. They looked real enough. Lovely.
krazy_olie
maple is softer than rosewood, more likely to be damaged by the strings? I think precisions are generally more common with maple necks than jazzes so guess it extrapolates to fretless?
redstriper
Don't know if this counts - fwd. to 7.15 for bass solo from the wonderful Robbie Gordon:
