Hi guys,

I'm new to England, and new to basschat. My wife and I moved over from the US in September/2010. I brought with me a little piece of America, SVT Classic head and Ampeg 810E. I used to play full time in the US, but no longer do that over here. After getting familiar with the size of cars, pubs and venues over here, I've realized the 810 is a little too big for England haha. I just sold it, but I'm keeping the head. I now have a small budget of about £450 to try and get a small head, and one or two cabs to go along with it. Any suggestions? Also, combos are not preferred, as I would like the option to use my SVT head from time to time on bigger gigs with the cabs.

I was thinking about the Ashdown little giant 1000, and maybe 2 used Ashdown 210's. Can anyone tell me the main difference between the ABM cabs and the Mag cabs? Is it mainly the power handling?

Or I also really like the Ampeg 210AV cabs, but I could only get one on my current budget.

Open to suggestions, feel free to reply to the post or personal message me.

Thanks

Kbass

Hello. Welcome to basschat!

I live in Dorset (Bournemouth) and I'm about to sell my Ashdown kit in favour of a new system. It's an Ashdown Little Giant head and two Ashdown cabs (2x10 and a 1x15).

Coincidence? :) Let me know if you'd be interested in trying it out.

Alex.

Hi - welcome from another newbie.
FWIW - Can I suggest a second hand Ampeg 4x10 HLE and continue to use your head? The best cab I've come across for all types of gigs - check out e-bay uk, there are usually ex demo cabs on sale which are well within your budget.
