I use the below to learn some Slap bass riffs (so I don't look like a complete tool when trying out basses in the music shop , or during rehersals where I then look up to see if anybody noticed, which they don't ). It's not free, though, goes about 50 dollars for three month membership (access to all videos, they're downloadable, and access to private forum, so you can discuss, share things and ideas with other members, and the Man himself..) I got someone into a similar, but milder spot the other week when I recommended the Android tuner app gStrings, which they promptly googled from work. dougie Posted January 26, 2011 Share Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) Most the stuff ive learned has been from Scotts site,intending starting his video tutoring soon as due to my work schedule i cant pre book lessons with anyone locally,his stuff i found on Youtube from day 1 has kept me interested in bass and by far the best ive seen online,others i tried albeit excellent players seem to forget picking up an instrument from scratch is challenging and what they find really basic and easy is total alien to the likes of me.....good to see these guys though that love what they do so much they take time out to share it with us. Just to let you know i'm actually working on another lessons website which is going to have a lot more content than my existing one. Not only will it have all the old stuff, it's going to have shorter lessons that will be a little easier to grasp than the ones i've got up now and will also have different sections for example... rhythmic studies, tunes analysis, improvisation, learning the jazz language etc. It's still not going to be a website for the complete novice though as there's so many great ones about (http://www.playbassnow.com) the last thing we need is another one.
