Aria Pro Ii Sb-1000

Regretfully needing to sell my 1979 Aria SB-1000 to make way for an incoming Stingray.

It's the early version with the batwing headstock, in oak finish and a great player. Condition - I'd give it 8.5 out of 10. No damage or anything major but a number of minor scuffs and dings. I've shown these in the photos. The neck is good with one ding on the back around the 4th fret - but it doesn't interfere with playing. I only notice it when I'm looking for it.

It's been re-fretted (well) in its recent past - frets are in new condition with no wear at all. Set-up by Jonathan at Feline Guitars in Croydon. Fast, low action and strung with old standard guage DR Hi-Beams. Electronics are original and all work fine, with no scratches or buzzes.

The case is a shaped hard case. Possibly original - certainly as old as the bass. However it is falling apart and needs new hinges. It is not useable for anything apart from lying flat.

Collection or local delivery preferred, but will post if I have to and if I can find a suitable box and packaging. Price £600 plus postage.

Thanks for looking - any questions please ask. BTW - the mark on the back of the headstock running through the serial number is not a repaired crack. It's in the varnish, not the wood.

Original cases were rectangular, with "Aria Pro II Super Bass Series", in silver lettering, in the lower right-hand corner.

Thanks - I was told it was original when I bought it - but nothing on the case to prove as much so I didn't take much notice. Regardless whether original or not - it's useless. I'll throw in a gigbag if you have nothing to take it home in :)

Erm, this was the original case, I also have an SB900 with exactly the same case. A quick google will show you others with this guitar shaped case also from the 70's.
I have a 1981 and a 1982 which came with the rectangular case. I think this bass was also mine at one point!

Hi Steve,

Yep this is your old bass! Loved owning it and playing it. Just haven't got a gig for it, and with a rather special 'Ray on the way I sadly have to let this go. Wish I could afford to keep it.

Good to hear from you, all the best to the family,

Derrick

Hi Derrick,

Happy new year to you and yours!

I sadly had to sell an SB1000 in walnut last year due to moving house, so know how you feel. Still theres worse basses than a Stingray to own!

Bump for a top bloke.

Cheers,

Steve.
Hi Steve,

Proud new owner here! Finally in possession of the two basses I'd always wanted to own (Stingray and SB-1000), though I'd never thought I'd come across such a good example of one of these. Great to meet you Derrick, all the best.
