Erm. mega B5 posting this evening....another fantastic musician...Nitin Sawnhey..... i guess you could call him a world musician..as in there is nothing he cant conquer..his music is wonderful in many ways ..... if you have not heard his stuff, its an essential listen... you wont forget it..

First saw Nitin Sawnhey play at WOMAD in 2003. Blew me away, the point you make about being able to do beautiful and badass together is spot on! The Fabric Live album is the only album i have of him, but all it takes is 2 seconds of the intro and i'm taken back to a magical time in my life. Making it one of my favorite albums

I did a days work with him recently when he was recording the music with bbc wales orchestra for a tv series called human planet for bbc/discovery. (think blue planet but with humans- its on sometime in the new year)

Hugely inspiring, intelligent and funny man. It was amazing to see him in the control room conducting the conductor! Love his work

My friend played guitar for him for a year or two. I met him back in 2003. On top of everything else, he was a nice guy too.

I had the pleasure of being involved in a workshop setting and gig some years ago now, with Nitin in charge. We rehearsed under his guidance and got to play songs with him of his and our own. I couldn't get my head around how much of a monster musician he was on many different instruments, yet keeps total sight of music as a whole and the importance of playing with meaning and conviction. Amazing musician, one of the best and most open minded out there IMO. Bad Ass!

I first saw him live at St Barnabus Church in Oxford in the late 1990s - he's done some great stuff and is super talented and a great guitarist, but his latest stuff hasn't been quite as good IMO - I interviewed him a while back too:

Yes a truly inspirational musician and composer, not many do the global melting pot thing as well. The Prophecy album is the one IMO.
