1. Configuration is stacked vol/bal, mid, stacked treb/bass, mid switch (3 frequency positions). Wired for 2 x 9v batteries. I also have 2 x capacitors wiring to for active pickups if required. Very good condition, in my bass for about 8 months. I imported this direct from Audere Audio (USA). £85 shipped (UK). Cheers Mike
2. Model JMVC5-FE passive J pickups, both 95mm long, 18mm pole spacing. Practically brand new, only in my bass for a couple of weeks. [s]£135 shipped (UK) for the set.[/s] SOLD Cheers Mike
3. Any feedback on the longevity of these critters? And if the harshness did mellow out. I'm a fan of DR low riders on my Corvette 5 and am need of a new set soon. The comment about midrange has me stroking my beard with interest.
4. Hi Matt, the Delanos measure 18mm string spacing.
5. I told Delano what kind of bass I was using, whether they adjusted the spacing or not I'm not sure. But yeah, the pole pieces are a beastly 9.5mm (3/8"). I'll measure them when I get a moment and let you know. No rush on payment etc I haven't put an ad up yet and seeing you've expressed interest I'll hold off for the time being. Cheers Mike
6. Yep, they are a matched pair of JMVC5FE pups. They dropped straight into my Corvette Std 5. They are pretty much as new, I tried them out and they were fantastic, very punchy and smooth, strong low mids. Just not that suited to my band's style (heavy rock / postpunk) and in my opinion bright pickups suit this bass the best. I also own a Stingray and felt it turned my Warwick into a sort of Stingray hybrid. I want a Warwick to sound like a Warwick. Anyway I could part with them for £140 for the pair. I'm not sure how good your MECs are, but I had actives in mine previously and they were great. It was the MEC preamp that was a bit underwhelming. I'd say get rid of that first and see how it sounds with a new pre.
7. How old is the pickup and how long has it been in the bass? Older model EMGs had different magnets so if there is a mix of old design and new pickups, that would be the problem. Take the old pickup out and put in a newer one.
8. Thanks very much barkin, that did the trick. After spraying, I worked the pots back and forth for a minute or two. All is above board now. Cheers!
9. Correct, you can't use the standard J set, needs to be 2 x 95mm ones. Perhaps for your style of music, Barts might be the way to go, as they have darker, more subtle sound. MECs, EMGs and Duncans will be bright and growly. I have EMGs in my Corvette Standard and swear by them, but they don't behave so well with non-EMG preamps; a BQC pre is recommended. I've used a variety of pres and pups in this particular bass and prefer MEC and EMG. I have a set of Delanos that I'll be selling soon but might be out of your price range, as they were about £200 new. Stingray-like tone.
10. Good point, see attached. I'm holding the wire in question.
11. Bit of a noob question here, please bear with me! I've installed a J set of EMGs plus a BQC system into my bass. No signal coming from the neck pickup. Now, the neck pickup had been used with another preamp and the black ground wire had been removed from the joint. I found the removed ground wire (2 inches long), and re-soldered it to the joint. Was that a mistake? Will I need to de-solder the joint first and locate the ground wire underneath? NB: by "joint" I'm referring to the big soldered joint where the white cable should split into black/white. I hope this makes sense!! Cheers for any advice.. rhythmbug
12. Hey I own a 30w Warwick Blue Cab combo amp that I picked up second hand. When the bloke sold it to me, he mentioned there was noise emitted when adjusting the volume. It's not a big issue as I only use it as a practice amp in my room, and at any rate it's a fairly economical bit of kit, so I prefer not to throw too much money at it. I was hoping there could be a DIY solution, any ideas? Cheers rhythmbug
13. Bought this off a fellow basschatter recently, but this size doesn't fit my bass, didn't do my homework! This is a soapbar shape housing 4" / 102mm (for 5 strings or narrow 6 strings). £40 shipped. Comes in original box complete with volume & tone controls and quick connect wiring. Looks brand new, I'm no expert but it looks like it hasn't been used before. Cheers rhythmbug
14. Stumbled across this forum while searching for second hand gear! Been playing on and off since I was a teenager, more recently rehearsing with a guitarist friend of mine. We're jamming on a few ideas and mixing in some covers, hard alternative post-hardcore / grunge with a dash of prog. Influences Fishbone, King Crimson, Mr Bungle, Mars Volta, Tool, Jesus Lizard, Soundgarden, Meshuggah etc. I've been living in London for 3 years, originally from Brisbane, Australia. Gear back home is a Stingray 5 and a Customised Fernandes Fretless 5. Various effects. Here I play a Warwick Corvette Std 5 and a Sansamp VT Bass. Roland bass cube for practice and studio's gear for rehearsal. Cheers rhythmbug
