1.
I don't mean to look ignorant but I don't know which is which not being clued up on Dean basses? thanks.
Just as an aside, didn't I used to have the 'Live forever, die Alone' pic as my avatar on here? I still have the original pic from when I made the image on memegenerator saved to my desktop!
2. Wish I could have seen them, they are a stunning rhythm section.
3. I have been dreaming of getting another Alembic at some point. The USA is well stocked with 'cheaper' Alembics. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-ALEMBIC-EPIC-4-STRING-BASS-GUITAR-USA-WITH-SOFT-HARD-CASE-/380455879246?pt=Guitar&hash=item5894f0024e Something like this, for instance. How much would it cost me to ship this to the UK, paying import duty and whatever else UK customs will levy on it? Advice from the shipping gurus appreciated...
4.
Just place your offer...im not looking for somting special!
IIRC you are still required to state a trade value to let people know what you're after.
5. Looks nice. How bad are the issues? Big issues?
6.

Daft pose, thin hair, lives in his mother's basement...great model!
7. Yes, so I discovered after finding the track shortly after posting this. My favourite solo would be the drum solo, though the hokey Chinese accent at the start is all a bit Love Thy Neighbour.
8. bump
9. I'm sure it was on the 'Best of Larry Graham and Graham Central Station' record, the one with this cover... There was a song, it was quite an upbeat groovy number where all the players introduce themselves. There was one thing that struck me as really strange, and I wanted to hear it again. The drummer puts on a faux-Asian accent and introduces himself as "Wenuoh" and says he is going to play the "wums" before doing a little solo. I've checked back through the itunes previews and I can't work out which track it was. I got rid of the CD copy I had years ago. Any ideas?
10. I have another potential purchase on the way. Not bass related (a second car). I will sell this now, collection only from me in Newcastle Upon Tyne as I don't have a case to post it at present.
11. Unless it's an Alembic Epic, probably yes...
12. If I wasn't in the middle of renovating my house/dreaming of getting another car I wouldn't dare sell this or trade it. But needs must. Particularly as I dream of owning another Epic.
13.
and then two weeks later you just want those expectations redefined!
Luke, there is always room for a new toy! Never thought I'd let my ACG go but then if I hadn't I wouldn't have this amazing Jaco Pastorius bass to play with! And getting my fretless chops back together is fun, I used to play mostly fretless and then stopped for a while so it is good to be back. Col, I've tried PM'ing you back but it won't let me! Suffice to say I think I shall hang onto this for now and see how the trades come. For a week or so, at least, then I will review! I would be interested in a trade for an Alembic too, something like an Epic. I had an Epic in the past and it was awesome. I'd even consider a 4 string!
14. Just to clarify, I am looking for trades for 6 strings first and foremost though I may consider selling if something catches my eye. I will make it known on the thread if I decide to sell.
15.
Happens all the time. We only hear of the odd one. Theres a missing persons list as long as your arm.
Correct, though often the only missing persons the public hear about are 'high risk' missing persons, ie: when the disappearance is out of character or there are other factors in play that mean they're at risk. For a lot of people, 'going missing' is a fairly regular occurence. In cases like this, it is hard not to think the worst from the off because this was clearly out of character for him, sad news for his family.
16. Now that truely is a beauty, but I don't like chrome hardware! I don't suppose you have any more pics of it, do you?
17. Pretty, though I'm not sure Dingwall are my bag.
18. Dots on mine, thanks! Preferably clay...
19. Well John, as much as I enjoy owning great basses I am always looking for new toys, worried I'm missing out on something else out there! I am really looking for a 6 string, though as I say I would consider nice 5 strings too. I'm GAS'ing badly for a Yamaha TRB...
20. Afternoon all, I am considering trading my Streamer at the moment. It's still my #1 bass, but nothing is forever and I do enjoy getting new toys (like the Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass I have recently been enjoying). This bass is a limited edition Streamer Stage 1 from 1990, as recently confirmed by H.P Wilfer, the boss-man of Warwick himself. It previously belonged to Warwickhunt and had been a part of his collection for some time until I traded him his old Zon back for it. The specs are as follows: Maple body and through neck, front and rear facings of birsdeye maple, Bartolini electronics, ebony fretboard, 34" scale etc etc. I am not 100% sure I would want to trade it, but if something nice is out there I may consider it. It would value it at a little over £1000, but I will entertain and respond to all serious offers to trade. I am really looking for a 5 or 6 string as a bit of a change as I've played 4 strings exclusively for a couple of years now. Chris
21. I remember a few years ago a discussion on the internet about him being a bellend, apparently obsessed with making himself famous and insulting him for apparently being rude to someone in a segment of backstage footage from the 80's. I was quite pleased to see this rubbished, as he has consistently showed himself to be a nice guy with a lot of time for his fans. Superb bass player too. Whilst most of the pop bass players of the 80's faded into obscurity, you'll still hear Mark King licks in the library of any competent bassist playing today! Top that etc etc
22. Johngh cropped my post and couldn't remember what I had said, I can't be arsed to retype it either, and so we shall leave the Buzzard for now (in this thread).
