People give Amazon a lot of stinky poo - and rightly so - but one good thing they do is to let you pre-pay the customs fee so that the Post Office Royal Mail don't get to gouge you for the privilege.

I got stung some time back. The import & handling fees were almost as much as the goods
Along with the original postage costs, the original cost of the item was considerably more than doubled!
These days, I have become reluctant to buy anything that has to be imported
Of course, soon we'll be paying import duty on just about everything
