1. If this is a child who is 14 or 15...then fair play to him. Yes, they do look a little 'heath robinson', but there's absolutely no way I could have pulled off what he's done when I was his age. Could be the starting point of making some masterpieces in future 👍.
2. I’d use any footswitchable boost/preamp pedal of choice, if otherwise there’s no other complaints with sound. Then, when you plug-in the Jeff Berlin you can potentially switch it on to keep the volume the same as any other instruments you’re using at the time.
3. Hello! I'm in the middle of restoring an Ibanez K5. It's the original all--natural model with wenge/bubinga neck, mahogany body core and padauk body facings. My thoughts are now on what to do with the body and its finish... As padauk apparently does, it's faded over time and the front facing looks fairly dull. I'm wondering whether it would be a cool experiment to try staining it a different colour and then tru oiling.. but padauk doesn't seem like a 'neutral' wood to stain. Has anybody tried doing this? I may just get a cheap padauk block with a few stain testers to see how it turns out. I suspect certain colours simply won't work/be visible.
4. Personally - I wouldn't be deterred on resale. There are people (like me) who would see it as an interesting, good thing (since that's backed up by Fender now). A prospective/new owner can also get the bass re-verified by Fender at any time. I love the look of it personally! A little envious, in fact and glad you're really liking the bass, in any case!
5. Hi all! I'm not getting on with this bass 100%, so I'd like to test the waters and see if anybody's interested in owning it instead! I bought this bass about six months ago from a person who owned it from new. As you can see it came with original gig bag, allen keys and even a 'Sterling by Music Man' brochure.I've played it on half a gig(!) as a spare and two rehearsals, but apart from that it's just home use. Judging by its condition, I doubt the original owner took this out of the house much, if at all. Apart from one dink in the body (superficial, but I've tried to photograph as best as I can in photo three) the bass is basically mint. It has all of the usual Sterling sounds you'd expect from the ceramic humbucker, and really does nail the sound and overall feel of the USA version. My friend has a USA Sterling, and I'd say the main difference is the neck finish is a little more 'satin'-esque on the SB14 compared to the gunstock-style finish on the USA Sterling. That's about the only main difference I can pickup on (although my friend's one didn't have a compensated nut either, unlike the 'new' US models). No problem to either collect from Brighton and Hove, East Sussex or to courier (contact me to get some quotes). Any questions, then just let me know. Thanks!
6. Hi David, Sorry, was a bit slow off the mark with the photos (pun unintended). It's an Indonesian model - must be quite an early one? I did buy a Markbass bag for it (as per the included photos), but I might hang onto it for my partner's Markbass. Let me know if you'd like to work out something, with it included :). Any further questions - just let me know! Thanks, Mike
7. Hi all! I haven't got pictures of this just yet, but I'll take some and upload by the end of the week. Apart from a few slight marks in the chassis (ironically from the zip catching on the case I was carrying it in!), it's in very good condition. I look after my gear. I've had this amp for about five years and I've loved it. Very light, very loud, and sounds great! A simple but dependable formula. It's never let me down. Happy for you to either pick up it up from mine (Brighton and Hove), or if you're local I can drive it to your place. Otherwise, I can courier fully insured for £15 (I pack my items very carefully). Any questions - just let me know. Thanks!
8. I'm fallen out of love with my ProCo RAT distortion pedal. I use it within a clean blend and it sounds really nice, but sometimes it can be really fiddly to dial in (feels like I can't set the same level of distortion and 'Tone' compared to my amp volume, so levels jump all over the place). For other reasons (mainly because in my current setup the clean blend's volume isn't controllable), I'd like to change to a bass distortion/fuzz/overdrive that has a clean blend built in and I guess 'upgrade' at the same time. I do really like the sound of the RAT, but I'm not averse to trying something different. On my shortlist so far: Crowther Prunes and Custard MXR Bass Distortion Anybody got any suggestions?
9.
Crikey. I don't normally go for Fenders but that's special. GLWTS
Thanks Luke And a bumparooney!
10. Hi folks! I have - for very, very reluctant sale - a 2007 Fender Jazz Bass 75 RI: Flickr gallery with many more photos: https://www.flickr.c...157672726111905 This is a no nonsense, brilliant bass. It has everything that all Fender Jazz Bass lovers know and love, including all accessories and hardcase (the hardcore exterior does have some tears in the vinyl, but the interior of the case is 100% good). It's been used for a grand total of three gigs in all its time and a handful of rehearsals - apart from that, it's spent 99% of its time in said hardcase. There is some losing of the chrome plating on the bridge saddles (I tried to photograph this, but it's a bit hard to show in photos). Apart from that, the bass is *flawless*. The bass is located in Hove, East Sussex. More than happy to ship the bass within the UK or within Europe - contact me for a shipping quote and I'll get back to you with what the exact price is. Any questions - just let me know. Thanks, Mike

13. Hi guys! I've just started uploading my own YouTube videos. I'm just doing playthroughs at the moment, but over time I will expand the channel to cover lessons, reviews and more Just to give you a taste, it would be awesome if you could give the below a toot: http://youtu.be/obXII4f4D1U I'd love to get your feedback on what I've got so far (I've got an obligatory 'Tom Sawyer' playthrough as my first one within the channel) - even better, if you could also hit 'Subscribe' then at least it gives me an audience to directly trial my videos and see what works and what doesn't from an all-supportive community such as yourselves. Thanks one and all
14.
Many moons ago we at Barefaced (well I say 'we', it was just me back then!) sent out our first model, the Compact, for a load of basschatters to take turns trying out. We learnt a lot from that and I think people enjoyed gigging it. I'm now wondering if there'd be some interest in us doing that with the new TWO10? We've been almost shocked at what it can do - I know the engineering behind it says that it should be able to match many 4x10"s for output but actually hearing it get that loud is another matter. I'd be interested to hear how it works with lots of different players and different amps because the 4 ohm version does seem to get an improbable output from a small and relatively inexpensive cab.
On your second point Alex - this is precisely why my girlfriend and I have ordered a 4 ohm version from you, as although I don't play massively loud (I try and go through a PA as much as I can alongside an amp to spread the sound) I am a headroom freak - it just feels better to me Having played at least 100+ gigs with my trusty Compact, I'm extremely excited at the prospect of having both at our disposal!
15.
Thanks Mike, need to check it's the same as mine so will get back ASAP C
No problem - just let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks, Mike
