1. Hi All, I'm thinking of going off down the Markbass or TC combo route so might sell my super twelve - it;s a big decision as it's simply superb - earthshatering volume and excellent tone - weighs nothing - but you know all that already... Here's the link - http://barefacedbass.com/index.php?page=super-twelve I picked it up from Alex about 9 months ago I think and used it about 20 times I suppose so it's as new condition; it's the one with the tweeter - £700 new -anyone interested for about £600? Or make me an offer.... As I said just a feeler at the mo.. thanks Bob
2. phew! well the schalller is definitely shagged but I manged to speak to Aaron at Kent Armstrong (Kent's son) and he ran through how to set it up with me and after checking the photos.... - it works!!!! hoorah! sounds great as well!! He's going to make me a new one as well with the exact string spacing for my bass. There's also a ne wschaller on the way tomorrow so expact that on the market place sometime soon Once again, thanks for all your help - it really very much appreciated - hopefully I can repay it all at some stage - thanks chaps!
3. Hi chaps - you're all stars, thanks - i'm just trying to get hold of wd music now see if I can get one - if not i'll try the Thomann next day on another schaller. I'll get the soldering iron out tonight and see what I can do as well! Honestly though thanks for your support it means a lot
4. Hello All, so... I have a big gig on Friday at a Burlesque bar in London (!) so thought I'd practice last night and my schaller pickup seems to be crackling and breaking up - I haven't had a chance to look at it yet - I'll do that tonight. So I dug out this old Kent Armstrong I got from ebay last year that looks like it's been wired up by a three year old - the soldering and wires are awful and it works but buzzes like hell - can anyone help me out by posting or sedning me a picture of how there's is wired so I can check it out and rewire it ? I'm going to give WD Music a ring this morning and see if they can get one to me as well but any help very very much appreciated! thanks Bob
5. there's only one way to find out ... FIGHT!!!! oh no sorry my mistake it's for sale...
6. I've been using the iAmp 800 for mine (and just selling it now....) - very clear HiFi sound, great with a piezo although obviuosly feedback is an issue with 800 watts! Schaller pickup sounds great and earthshattering volume, the schaller seems to have a very loud output though so distorts easily - going to try the Kent Armstrong at some point and see if that's better - hopefully will have a valve amp on the way soon so will be good to see the comparison between pure digital and pure analogue!
7. Now sold pending the usual thanks Bob
8. £250! blimey! - well seeing as I got in on here for £125 I'll repay the compliment in case a basschatter wants it for a few days then try ebay then
9. Hi I've decided to sell my nice and rare Akai Unibass pedal - awesome octave effect - essentailly adds two harmonies and distortion ot your bass so sounds like someone playing guitar along with you - excellent for three pieces - It's in excellent condition, no scratches or anything - works perfectly - £125 posted. Here's and Example - www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2YHS6wEGnQ Here's the Akai blurb - •Dimensions : 140mm (w) x 175mm (D) x 61mm (H) •Akai: You know the feeling - you play in a traditional guitar, bass and drums 3-piece but when the guitarist takes a solo, your band sounds empty. Enter the UB1 UNIBASS. The UB1 allows you to add an octave above whatever you play on your bass to keep the rhythm sound full while your guitarist wails away on lead. You can also add a 5th above (or a 4th below) the octave to retain the feel of guitar 'chords' underpinning your guitarist's deft pyrotechnics. Furthermore, you can add distortion to the harmony to complete the illusion. Operation is simple. Set the controls as necessary and, at the appropriate moment, engage - your bass will not only drive your band along but it will also generate unison and/or chordal guitar accompaniment filling the hole left by your guitarist's solo. ■Add an octave above what you play so you can simulate the sound of bass and guitar playing in octaves ■Add a 5th above or a 4th below the octave sound ■Powerful distortion for the sound of an overdriven guitar ■Seperate outputs allow you to route direct bass signal to a bass amp and effect signal to a guitar amp More info at http://www.effectsdatabase.com/model/akai/...s#ixzz1GIEuiNFr
10. hmm it's weird isn't it - I normally go for the american approach - no substitute for cubic inches
11. Are valve watts different to FET watts then? I assumed it was a standard measurement....although my old guitarist used a 30 watt that seemed bloody loud!
12. and i thought a Kay was hard to get hold of
13. D'oh ~ sorry - mods could you move it please? thanks!
14. Something at least 400 watts I suppose - I'm open to ideas but it has to have enough welly to power my super twelve loud enough so I can hear over the others in the band. I guess a Mesa or a Laney Nexus with added money obviously would do the job
15. Hello I posted this a few days ago in lazy style so I thought I'd do a proper job this time - EA iamp 800. in excellent condition for sale or trade (I'm looking for a decent Ampeg or decent Tube amp) It gives a very clear, tight and warm sound, bringing out the true sound of your bass. It is a very powerful amp and will handle gigs of any size. It's Power output is : 500w @ 8ohms, 800w @ 4ohms and 1000w @ 2ohms. It has an excellent semi-parametric eq, which gives you many different tonal posibilities. It also has 4 EQ presetsand an effects loop. It has a a mini jack input where you can plug in and external signal and mix it with your bass signal. It also has a tuner output in case you prefer to use an external tuning unit. Operates at 110/220 v so its usable anywhere in the world. From the EA website: "The iAMP features an isolated, fully shielded transformer, gold plated input and output jacks*, both series and parallel effects loops, DI output, dual line voltage switch for both the US and Europe, onboard limiter, CD input and, of course, the unique EA tone shaping section. The result is a high performance, fully featured, small footprint rackmountable amp head that at under 20 pounds is comfortable powering speakers in a concert level environment. With an amazing efficiency rating of 85% the iAMP needs no cooling fan. Power when you demand it and silence when you don’t."
