10.
Hi, sorry to hear your news. You might get the same story from most techs, but as an amp tech myself I've made a point of not doing Behringer stuff at all...any of it. As has been said already its not designed to be fixed and even if it could be Behringer do not give out schematics. Alot of their pcb's are suface mount which makes it virtually impossible for the amp tech to do anything with it. I usually get these donated to me and strip them for what spares I can find that are removable. The rest is consigned to the bin. Although I must add that Behringer are not the only company doing this. Good luck in your quest to get it fixed. Cheers Just
I found the schematic now and if anyone can help, am quite capable of removing components and replacing. I just need some helpful advice so that I dont waste time replacing the wrong parts. There isnt an awful lot in there, other than two LM3886 chips. Steve.
11. Yes, it looks like it a bit like that, which is why I wondered about buying a new power module if available.
12. Just got a second hand BX1200. Lovely sound, but died second time out whan switching on. Just a loud hum, then silence. The pre amp is still working, but the power module seems to have died. I'm fine with valve amps, but this is a bit out of my scope. Anyone up North that can fix these things please? Or is it possible to get a complete new module? Steve.
13. I'll have it if I can get it to Cumbria somehow been looking for one of these! Steve,
14. Where are you located please?
15. Went on e bay tonight, my max bid was £99
16. Hi there. I'll give you £95 for it anytime. Can pick up tonight. Steve 07788513594
17. Just got a S/H Little Giant 350. Makes plenty of noise, but I did notice that there was no sign of a fan working inside. Tonight, towards the end of the gig it cut out, being quite hot and needed to rest a couple of minutes before the power came back on. Do these tiny things actually have a fan inside? Mine was being pushed quite hard and was definitely too hot when it cut out . Steve.
18.
Hi, it sounds like you've got a chip gone dud on you somewhere in the pre amp circuit. Not sure which ones the laney has but they dont cost much and if your lucky they'll be on chip sockets so should be easy to swap out. Dont forget to note which way round they're fitted. If you're in or near Bristol PM me, I run an amp repair business. Good luck cheers Just
No they're not dear, but they are soldered directly to the board and there's about 20 of them! Which one might cause the OL light to come on? Fraid I'm too far from Bristol (Kendal)
19.
Seriously. I and others on this site have had the front end of Laneys pack up because of dirty contacts on the input jack. Maybe you could describe the problem in a bit more detail and someone might have other suggestions?
Ok, It atarted off being intermittent and now there is no signal getting through at all. If the gain controls are backed off, a loud squeal comes through. The input overload light is on all the time even with nothing plugged in. Steve. Ps, I have the circuit diagram, but it wont post on here, just e mails ok.
20. Cheers for those gems guys. The fault is a little more involved than that and I was hoping for advice from a tech, rather than Russel Brands' scriptwriter
21. The front end of my Laney DP150 has given up the ghost If there is anyone viewng who can offer direct help, I have the schematic here and test equipment. Cheers, Steve.
22.
And no, never tried to ape Mark King's style. ....it just made everyone sound the same as he was up there on his own for quite a while..
Boring Oldie's turn to speak now! Back in the eighties, when MK was God, I tried for quite a while to perfect the machine gun/typewriter style, buying books, videos etc, but never was much good at it, in spite of being a very competent player. (head swelling, watch out) and eventually resigned myself to making the most of my finger style (octaves, staccato etc). Later on I felt much relieved and vindicated when I got a tape and book by my other hero, the late John Entwistle, in which he freely admitted that he was crap at what he called the "crab claws" style and just made the best of his 4, (yes all 4 at once) fingers. Nowadays I just think that such theatrical displays of technical ability serve only to impress ones fellow players and do little to enhance the music or the enjoyment of it by the audience in general, unless they are all musos themselves. The same also applies to other instruments of course. Just as an aside, if I had indeed been able to do the old slap and tickle thingie, I suspect that after some 30 odd years of it, the arthritis which is only just starting to make playing a bit painful might have been much worse. This also afflicted the non-slapping Carol Kaye. Who? Google her, more hits than Russell Brand. End of lecture.
23.
Yeah, I'm hoping they do release the RAH as thats the one i'll buy to upgrade my setup. Either that or a top end Ashdown head but it's most likely to be the Trace Elliot. I'm going to give them a phone call tomorrow about it. Cheers guys!
I have a RAH1000 with a burned-out power section asnd have been using it just as a pre amp cos I cant aFFORD REPAIRS. gOING CHEAP if you want it. Steve.
