My Cali II VS was definitely under 8lbs; the Cali I P bass I had was just over 9lbs. I think when they did the modifications to the Cali I to create the Cali II range the body size was reduced and possibly made thinner too, so I guess much of the weight saving was achieved this way.

I used to own this bass and originally imported it from Japan. Great bass, full on MIJ for a fraction of the price.

Was that you I had a (very) brief chat with at the merch table? Would have liked to chat a bit more but the table was really busy, looked like a tornado had tripped through afterwards!
I did however make a mental note to tidy up my playing in the second half as there was a fellow doghouse man in the venue 😃Yes it was me I Dave, and thanks for sparing the time. My wife was sadly unable to come to the Blackburn gig, but we are both booked to see the band in Colne in a few months.

Just went to a Kate Bush tribute gig this evening in Blackburn. The band are called Cloudbusting and are well worth your time if that is your musical flavour. Great bass player too in Dave Roberts who played upright, fretless 5er and a 4-string fretted bass. Do check them out.

I’ve just had a look and realised ..there really is frets above the 12th 😁
Wow, my basses have them too. What are they there for?

I played this bass at the recent NW bass bash. It's a really nice instrument and the neck is exceptional.

It's because flipping breaks the social bond we have here as members and transgresses a moral code.
As members here, we have a relationship to one another. While we may not physically be close, we consider forum members to be friends and as such we enter transactions with this perspective. Businesses buy cheap and sell high. Friends will (by and large) offer you a fair price and not seek to profit from your relationship.
People who buy and sell for a profit are acting against this moral code. It's even more egregious when it happens on a forum (someone buys cheap on BC and advertisers for a higher price).
As an example of how this relationship can impact you, I bought a bass here for £1300. I held it for a year and then called a London shop for a trade in price. The cash offer I received was £2300. The seller here (trusted member, good guy) had sold to me cheaply. (this was during COVID when prices for all US imports and bespoke basses went through the roof).
I could have just pocketed the money. Instead we had a chat and agreed to split the difference. In the end, we both got £500 more than we had expected and all felt good about the world.
Fair enough, but if after several months a very reasonably priced instrument doesn't see on here then the whole moral code argument somewhat dissembles itself. A seller might quite reasonably want to buy something on here with the cash he hopes to realise from a sale, and if selling a bass elsewhere allows that to happen then where's the problem?

I wonder what the total bass-count is for all of BC? 🤔
Wasn't there a thread about this a while ago?

With one honourable exception I always put basses on here first at lower price. Equally most of them then sell elsewhere for a good chunk more. Whether that relates to reach or customer service / security I'm not sure, but that is certainly my experience.

Definitely worked for me as I had had a busy few weeks running up to it. To have the BB and then a day to chill was great.

Great day, and really good to see old friends and meet new ones. Thanks very much to Rob and family for organising, catering and generally being top bananas.

My preparedness thus far extends to having bought a large tin of choccy biscuits (for emergency use by the team).

@peterjam will you be suitably armed with the tin foil lined hat? Just in case....

Thanks for the info. TBH I wasn't expecting a four pot set-up.
I'm quite familiar with the ACG filter preamps having a few of Alan's basses. He (Alan) did mention he was going to making a few more EQ02s I think it was a little while back though and I was wondering what the configuration would be.
-
There used to be a two pickup version and a single pickup version. The difference is whether there is a stacked vol/blend or just a vol. pot. There's a bit of me thinks that there might have been a version with a tone control too?

Every few years Rich and I seem to meet in a railway station concourse with either or both of us having a bass in hand. This year was the year of both of us walking out with a different bass to the one we walked in with.
Great to see you as ever Rich and thanks again.

is there any interest in 3d printing? I know it's not really bass focussed but if people are interested, I can easily show people how it works. There will not be enough time to actually print anything useful unless its a thumb rest or a pickup surround.
More than happy to do so though
Thoughts welcomed?
Thanks
RobHi Rob
I deal with additive manufacturing as part of my day job so definitely of interest for me. I keep thinking about the ZeroMods parts and how expensive they whether I should just buy a few and scan them....

I can bring my pedal board along too if folks want to try anything out. It has a Korg Pitch Black mini tuner; T-Rex Quint; Sansamp YYZ overdrive; TC Electronic Thunderstorm flanger; Keekey Bassist compressor; Digitec Drop pedal and a Micro Thumpinator.

I'll be aiming for around 10:00 as well.

It's just that headstock. It really doesn't float my boat. Apologies from a very shallow person.

Just acquired a lovely bass from Jamie. Brilliant to deal with as has been said often in this thread.
