  1. hey back to the top, tis a bargain this is!
  2. Thanks for the tech info & recommendation, i'd just like to point out the square on the bottom cutaway under the 22nd fret is infact the corner of a book I was resting the bass on to photograph it. thanks.
  3. Hi, I have for sale two combo bass amps. The first is a LANEY RB7 300 watt 2 x 10 inch Celestion speaker kickback combo. This is a very loud for it's small size combo. Ideal portable small gig amp. It is in excellent condition. Please note I have not got a photo of this amp but if you google the title you you will get all the specs sizes and reveiws you want. The reason I need to sell it is, as it's just for home use (not giged) to keep the wife happy, I need a combo that will fit in the bottom of the wardrobe. Therefore I will do a part ex for a ROLAND CUBE 100 combo..... OR a straight sale for £200. pick up would be preferable because of weight but I can get a price for postage for you if you want. pm me. The second combo is a Peavey MicroBass 20 watt home practice combo pic included. This is a small (roughly 12Wide x 14High x 8Deep inches) lightweight amp that goes suprisingly loud and is a doddle to carry about. Price is £50 can get a post price also. Will trade for a Roland Cube 100 + cash if you have one. pm me, thanks [attachment=40004:yambass_010.jpg]
  4. Now sold. YAMAHA BB605 5 string bass, black, with padded gig bag included. Now I got this off a freind to try out 5 strings and now funds dictate I need to move on a bass as I have 4 string fretted and fretless. It is a very well made bass and is well respected and gets good reveiws. It is nice to play and is a good way to try 5 strings or as a quality back up. I'm not technically minded but apparantly it has very good electronics (Nathan East NE1 parametric eq) just google it and have a read. The neck is beautifull and true and it sounds very nice. Condition wise it has been gigged (not by me) a few times so the back has a little buckle rash and the gold hardware is not as shiny as it probably was when new but there are no chips or dents on it, a good workhorse instrument! I'm probably making it sound worse than it actually is but i like to be honest about stuff i'm selling. These basses usually go for about £250 but i'm seelling mine for £200 inc free posting in the UK. OR I will do a deal with a ROLAND CUBE 100 bass amp combo. pm me if interested [attachment=40001:yambass_008.jpg] [attachment=40002:yambass_007.jpg]
  5. Hi, wonder if anyone can help, I bought a second hand squire fretless vm jazz, it needed a little bit of attention including new strings and the neck relief sorting. Anyhow as I was to be changing the strings i thought I would add a new bridge. I have now fitted a Gotoch 201 B4 bridge and new set of Exilir strings. I have set the bass up the best I can and it plays not to bad but, the action is a little high at just over 3mm at 12th fretline, the releif is about 0.5mm at the 8th fretline but the truss rod nut is fairly loose AND the action wont adjust any lower as the saddles on the bridge are as low as they will go, even though the Gotoch bridge is a nice bridge i'm tempted to re-fit the standard cheap bridge, is there something i'm missing, any suggestions appreciated.
  6. I have a Yamaha BB605 active for sale at the mo. gloss black. plays lovely & sounds very powerful & punchy. It has a spare new set of strings & a padded gig bag. Reason i'm selling is; I have four basses & not much room, two are sentimental (pressents) & one is fretless so the yammy needs to find a new home. Have no pics at the mo, but, if you go to 'basses for sale' section & search BB605 you'll see a natural one to give you an idea. The BB615 replaced the 605 but some people said the BB605 was better, I dont know having not played a BB615. But the 605 is very good. Will sell for £200 inc. P+P, pm me if your interested.

  9. What I said was; take as much advice as poss. before making a decision, THE bass guy in my local store is VERY knoledgable about most things bass, I didn't say they all were. I would like to think that if a bass selling person didn't know how to fix the problem he may know of somebody who does, which comes back to, take plenty of advice.
  10. I understand your predicament!..... if it were mine I would be flapping too!! My advice would be... take as much advice as possible, buy some new strings or a lead or a new strap from your local music store. Ask some questions. The bass guy at my local store is excellent and is very helpfull and really knows his stuff. good luck.
  11. They are all awsome, but my personal favorite is 'A farewell to kings' Xanadu & Cygnus x-1 are BBBBBBBBBBest!
  12. hi all, I have a well made Procore guitar stand that I got chucked in with a second hand bass a couple of years back, it fits and supports my ibanez sr500 perfectly. I cant find any of these stands on the net, not on google anyway. I bought a cheap un-branded stand off ebay (£12 inc. post) total crap!!! not sturdy enough to support a bass although the description said it was for a guitar or bass. I want a good stand suitable for a jazz shape (some of you have perfect looking stands in your pics. in bass porn.) to hold my ibanez & VMJ What do you guys recommend? cygnus x-1
  13. thanks but, not wanting to be a allen key annorack- 3/16 = 4.76mm, 5/32 = 3.96mm so if 4.5mm doesn't fit, I wonder if USA 3/16 is different from UK? looks like i'll have to take the bass to a tool store, thanks for help. cygnus x-1
  14. Anybody any idea what size allen key to use to adjust the truss rod on a vintage modified fretless jazz? 4mm seems too loose, 5mm too big. is it 4.5mm? I dont have one- do they exist? or is it imperial? if so what size. any help apreciated
  15. I know where your coming from, my missus has loads of hand bags (how many do you need?) yet when I look at a bass she say's you've got enough! (I only have 4) A couple of nights ago I had a dream in which I found a black/white plate Rickenbacker for a stupid insane low price at a car boot sale, all I had to do was to get the few pounds it cost out of my pocket and it was mine! Guess what my pockets were sewn up, the cash was inside but I couldn't get to it!!!!!!!!!! I was getting madder and madder but I still couldn't get to the money. while this was happening someone else bought it, SH*T!!!! as the seller passed it to the buyer it turned into a Geddy Lee sig. Jazz. I'm not obsessed with 'the master' Geddy, but I may be obsessed with bass!!!
  16. thanks fellows, theres plenty to study in these replys, will post when I decide what to buy and give my opinion when strings are fitted......cygnus
  17. Correct, I do want something less zingy than rounds but a bit more lively than flats, it's quite a can of worms when you try to find info. I had'nt considered Elixirs, any body using these on fretless....thanks for help thus far............cygnus x-1
  18. I had read this pinned thread, I understand the pro's & cons of rounds v flats but when it comes to internet shopping I dont know which strings are half/semi e.g. are the D'Addario pro steels? I realise its a bit of trial & error but knowing a good place to start helps a lot, thanks, cygnus
