1960s double bass - great for a beginner upgrading from their first bass. Plywood body and ebony fingerboard. Custom bridge with adjustable height capability. Solid extendable floor pin. Strung with Thomastik Infield light strings. Protective bag included. Well looked after in general, but the cracks in the neck has been expertly repaired by Guitar Doc Dave Grant long before I owned it, and I've had it around 15 years with zero issues. I'm in Central Scotland. Collection preferable - but I'll be willing to meet somebody halfway once distances have been discussed. Nick Seymour / Crowded House appreciation thread
lawriemacmillan replied to wateroftyne's topic in General Discussion
This thread is new to me but NS continues to inspire me, amongst my other more well known bass influences. Anyone who bought the now-rare Trace Elliot 15th Anniversary CD 'Also Available in Green' will know the song Am I Asleep, which is a song written, played and sung by him. Melodic bass playing and a lovely voice. I think he used different basses on Woodface, but the Spector gave the distinctive punchy tone on Whispers and Moans. I saw them in Dublin and he was still using a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass -

I have been using this as a clean DI for the last couple of years, so it could be ideal for anybody requiring a top-level DI box but don't use floor pedals with EQs and overdrives, just to give that option. I've always used phantom power and it's always been noiseless. It works great with an electro acoustic bass too. Some helpful relevant info from Aguilar's website: Based on the respected OBP-3 preamp, the Tone Hammer[sup]®[/sup] features fully sweepable midrange frequencies in addition to bass and treble controls. With the Tone Hammer's pristine D.I. you are set for the studio or the stage. To give this tone shaping unit the ultimate flexibility we are introducing our proprietary Adaptive Gain Shaping circuitry (AGS). AGS allows the player to kick in an additional gain structure and EQ with the "stomp" of a button. You can now go from modern slap sounds to vintage or overdriven. 18 volt operation gives the Tone Hammer[sup]®[/sup] plenty of headroom to reproduce the most dynamic playing style. Separate Gain and Master controls allow you to dial in just the right gain structure for any instrument. The Tone Hammer[sup]®[/sup] is the essential preamp/direct box for every bassist's tool box. I bought a Pedaltrain with hardcase from Macieq. We had no problems or delays in communications, and he had my items packed and ready to send before he even received my payment. Great BassChat member!
