Ack, so I'm in a bit of a bind now. I've been talking to the boys at Electro Music in Doncaster, and they say they can do me a good deal on a Hiwatt 200 head (in that rather nice looking white vinyl, if I so wish ^_^). Only problem is that even with a 'good deal' on Hiwatt stuff, it is still a bit expensive! I do love that old school all-valve sound, especially when its running full tilt... But by my reckoning, I would need to sell off my Conklin 7 string, my Ibanez BTB AND my Marshall VBA400 head to afford it. They won't take part exchange on it, so... is it worth it in your opinions? The Marshall VBA400 is just too loud for me, which is why I want to downsize to the (still very loud) 200w Hiwatt. Also, where is a good place to get flightcases for heads? I'm aware I'd need to splash another couple hundred at least on a good flightcase for it really :/ Cheers, Chris

Ah, I get you - the legible one? ;p Yeah, I may just get onto him about that! Not sure if he'll have put the decal on or not yet though, but we shall see!

He gave ma choice of black, chrome or white. Black wouldn't show up well on my bass I don't think, white may look a little in your face, so that only leaves chrome, which seems very visible if you catch it in the light. Either way, I'll be letting everyone know it is a Shuker anyway ;p I shouldn't think it'll get confused with a Squier!

I never use my gym membership :/ But having said that, this bass is actually quite light! I know I was picking it up without hardware and electronics, but compared to the Conklin I've been hefting around for 3 years, it is a huge difference I'm quite happy with the LED switch on the front I think. Most of the EQ I'm happy to have internally, but some things you just need acces to all the time The Shuker logo is going to be the shiny chrome one as well. Looks pretty sexy on the other basses Jon had in with those on. Ee, can't wait ^_^

Visited Jon today. Got a couple of piccies on my phone (it is a new phone with a superduper camera, but I haven't worked out how to use it properly yet, so bare with me!), which I'm uploading now The lacquering has begun - the first coat has been done. In the pictures, there are lumps and imperfections in the finish and it is slightly tacky to touch from the wax. But this will be sanded back and finished with the full on gloss very soon Talking to Jon, he says it may be finished within 2 weeks. Not holding my breath, but it really is just putting bits inside it from here on in, so I'm inclined to think that may be about the right kind of timescale The holes in the back are now routed for the LED circuit batteries and the EQ/volume pots, and the pickup has also been routed. Unlike last time we had photos, the pickup is actually sitting in the bass, not on top of it. The lower horn has also been brought back into the body a bit more since the last pictures, to accommodate better upper fret access. Me and Jon had a quick chat about series/parallel switching too. I was going to leave it out entirely, but we're now going to add it as a push/push switch on the pot for the LED on/off knob. It is all coming together! Incidentally, I think the back of the neck especially looks absolutely mint. EDIT: Here we go They are mahoosive though... Whole thing Body Headstock Rear Back of neck Back of headstock I'm not a good photographer with this camera yet, but enjoy

I saw a blue flame maple J body with white binding hanging up at Jon's today. I'm assuming it was this ;p It is stunning mate, and the final coat of gloss hasn't even be applied yet. The flame is almost holographic when you tilt it in the light. You won't be disappointed!

Yeah, I agree with presoulnation - the grain has really popped out well on this one You're a lucky man!

Neato - may have to investigate that!

I wonder how many of the anti-EMA people wouldn't be complaining if they were getting given £30 a week ;p I do get it, and it isn't as magical as everyone makes out. £30 doesn't go very far once all my buses and food are paid for.

Tonefactor Mobius and Danelectro Wasabi delay
Finbar replied to Finbar's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale

Also still selling a Danelectro Wasabi delay. This is literally as new. I've used it less than 5 times. It is a really good delay, but the Boss DD-3 does what I want at this stage in time. The Wasabi is actually very good, despite the Danelectro tag putting people off. Has a tap-tempo switch on it (which most other delays in this kind of bracket don't. And Boss won't fool me by saying the DD6 has a usable tap tempo. Because it doesn't ¬_¬), as well as feedback, repeats, delay time and hi-cut all controllable. Bonus is a reverse button. Can make some pretty trippy noises. Anyway, its a very natural sounding delay, especially compared to the Boss DD series. Again, pictures on request. Considering that this is basically brand new, I'm looking for £50+p&p for this. Will consider trades (with necessary cash adjustments) if it is something I want. This list has on it... A synth of some kind, a Boss PS-3/5... That's about it at the moment. Let me know

As far as I remember, no. Though I could be wrong - I don't use it for the delays.

What are his prices etc? I'm guessing there's no shopping cart from his site. The website isn't too clear to be honest.

I'm strongly considering building my own board once I have all my pedals. I'd want to build something with a raised back row though. Only problem is building it - wood is the only affordable option which has any durability, but I don't want it to weigh an absolute ton. Don't know what other avenues to go down though really :/
-
Well I'd say the two most popular luthiers *on this board* (from the build thread quantities) seem to be Shuker and ACG, rather than Sei. Would that be fair? I'm sure the others (like Martin) are very busy too, or they wouldn't stay inm business But yes, it is just the same as someone saying they prefer a Stingray to a Rickenbacker, for instance. Both good basses, but are very different. It is no different with luthiers

I second the Converses. Our guitarist wears skate shoes, and he has to take them off to play. I can't do it in socks/barefeet though - it hurts too much! My board can get quite crowded, but I don't have a separate gigging board. If I don't use a pedal, I don't keep it. After a while you know where all your pedals are, and what little quirks you have to use to get to them (well, I should really reorganise the board better instead of learning quirks...). You can miss a pedal sometimes or not connect with the stompswitch even when there's no crowding at all, so I don't think that having lots of pedals really confuses it too much
-
You've got me wanting these now ¬_¬ Just scoured the net, and only found those ones from Excel. The price isn't too bad, except that it is basically doubled when postage is added in :/ Dang.
-
I have the Diago Tourman. It is unwieldy, and you would do well to nailgun the internal velcro down (heavy pedals have made mine come up in transit). You don't need to worry about the durability though. It is very well built (I've stood on it fully loaded, and not had any problems), although I can't help feeling I could probably build something similar for a fraction of the price if pushed ;p Bloody heavy when you've got a dozen or so mid-large size pedals in it, and the handle is totally not fit for carrying something that heavily laden around for anything more than a few seconds at a time. Does the job well though, can't really fault the protection it gives me at all, and when you have cars, it doesn't matter about carrying it. Doesn't help when you have to carry it up and down 6 flights of stairs to your practice room though ¬_¬ I'd love a pedaltrain, but they're so expensive

If you find somewhere to get them in the UK, let me know - I'd be interested in some too eventually
-
Well I may be in a few months when I've got enough money to rejig my pedalboard! Not quite yet though ¬_¬
-
If its a copy-paste mistake, that's cool, but a bit confusing No skin off my nose, as I wasn't going to buy it anyway! Hope something suitable has popped up for you in this thread anyway tayste.

From the auction: This auction is for 1 pedal connector as described in the image shown, the pedals and rest of the connectors also in the image are not included in the sale! What am I missing here?

We didn't used to be able to look at eBay at college, but if we searched for something on eBay using google, we could get into it. It only seemed to block the front ebay page.

Another 2 weeks on, and still not done! Last email from Jon said that once he had done the electronics (he's done a rough version to make sure it works, so now he is doing a proper neater one to go in the bass), he would get to work buffing and polishing the bass. To me, this implies that he's at least done the first bit of work on the finish, so... I'm waiting >.< Hoping I might be able to pop down to his workshop in the next week to get some new pictures of the stage that we're at now, but we'll see
