1.
If your reason for reading his book is to learn about his gear, don't bother. He really hasn't got a clue what equipment he was using, and when. Seems to think the Aria SB range included the 1200 and 600, and that he bought a 600. Well, there was a 1200, but he'd have had to wait until '88 to buy one of those, and what he bought was a 700 - you can see it has a five-piece neck - the 600 had a three-piece neck. It's an okay book if you want to read about someone experiencing the "80s fame".
that's both very interesting and very disappointing in that I was hoping JT would be an anorak with his gear, could tell me what strings and gauges he used on Rio, the height over the nut on this E strings etc, the sort of stuff an anorak like myself with more enthusiasm that talent likes to know so did he ever use the SB-1000 that people seem to think he played all the time...also wouldn't be fair he has been playing Peavey's longer that any other bass brand? I gota add he seems very modest about his ability PS I always thought it amusing that Duran's rival Spandau Ballet got their name.... I always liked this tune, 2nd time I heard bass harmonics used, 1st time was Level 42 New Believers...this guy has a collection to make any Aria fan firm up for sure! 10.
I've bought three basses over the years which i collected where the buyer wanted payment by paypal. I've found no problem with this method of payment and you are also covered by paypals protection policy. On one occasion i wanted to see the basses before paying as the photos weren't that good on ebay so i took my laptop with me and when i checked it and found everything fine i payed there and then by paypal.
I have had the reverse. I buyer insisted on payment by paypal first then collection, I refused & when I got there to view and pay his wares, well lets just say I didn't stop for a coffee. I have always wondered what would of happened if I'd paid upfront, it was a quite clever (dishonest would be more to the point) description allowing a fair amount of "fill in your own lines" if you get my drift, my dealings with paypal have not been smooth and I avoid paypal now.
 11.
Perhaps his 'friend' drives around in one of these?
a Skoda Estelle rear end on a Datsun 120Y front?... sorry it's the car dealer in me...
 12.
For a fiver, it's expensive firewood.
thats a little harsh..I just paid £3.99 for a bag of chopped kindling, that must be worth £4.99 of anyones money by weight . of course the big problem is that one just can't throw any old wood up one's open flue, as it can result in a nasty mess. for those across the pond, 'wood' in this context means a hard fibrous matirial of cellulose and lignin and 'flue' means a tube or channel over a fire to divert smoke and fumes.
