1. All gone now I'm afraid, thanks to everyone who took an interest. Cheers!
2. Like the title says, I've got loads of used bass strings and if they're any use to anyone they're very welcome to them. Collect from Norwich or I can post if you can cover the cost. Cheers!
3. Cool, thanks chaps. I'll try and track down someone local for a price, but if anyone's got any solid recommendations for a luthier let me know. Cheers!
4. Hiya all. I've spotted a bass I'd really rather like to add to my stable, but it's a fretless and unfortunately I don't play 'em - I'd be wanting to use this bass in my current band playing material already written that I can barely play with frets as it is, so don't suggest I just level up and learn something new either! ;-) I was just wondering if there's any reason I couldn't get it fretted for me by a luthier? The biggest issue I can foresee would be not getting enough additional height on the bridge, I'd imagine a new nut would be in order too but that shouldn't be the end of the world. Is there anything I'm overlooking? If it's all perfectly plausible, can anyone give me a rough idea of cost, and maybe some suggestions on where to take it for the work? Ideally in or around Norwich, but I'll happily travel or post it if needs be be. Cheers!

6. Hi chaps and chapesses I've got a pair of EMGs to put in a bass which I've had routed out to fit them, but the chap who modded the body for me says I need to line the cavities with conductive paint. I guess my question is, do I really?
7. Luke - the one I've found is prettier! Warwickhunt - Thanks again for the details, if it's there in a few weeks I might try and low-ball them. It really is very nice......
8. Thanks chaps! You're right, it's one that's popped up in a local shop - I very nearly handed over my credit card when I played it but I've calmed down a bit now, 2 grand does seem like a lot of money. I knew it was expensive but wasn't sure if it was overpriced as I haven't seen many 80's Thumbs for sale, of course there's the argument that any bass is worth what you're prepared to pay but I never like to hand over my hard earned without checking to see if it could be better spent first. Any further comments or advice will still be gratefully received, I might see if I can raise some money before I buy it and just call it fate if it sells before I get there.
9. Hi all Was just wondering if some folks in the know about Warwicks could help me out, I'm wondering if £2k is a fair price for the following bass: 1988 Thumb 5 NT Pretty sure it's a custom shop job, I think it's a bubinga body (very heavy bass, nice figuring on the wood), 7 piece neck, wenge fingerboard, green LED side markers, Bartolini p'ups, slimmer neck than the 2 other Warwicks I have, pretty good condition - you can tell it's notyoung but the only noticable mark on the finish is the spot above the front p'up where your thumb rests. So yeah, is two grand a fair price?
10. How much would you be looking at for shipping this bass?

12. Ah, hadn't spotted the difference in body wood - that's probably where a chunk of the money goes! Cheers! I'm reaaly keen to know if anyone's got any experience of playing the Harley Benton (or a similar priced model by them) for an idea of the build and finish quality,, the sound and how it might compare to the Squier.
13. So I'm looking at buying a Jazz bass or 2 (different tunings) for a band I've started and I'm in love with the natural ash body, black scratch plate, maple fretboard & block inlay look of the Squier VMJ's, but I'm wondering if with my eyes closed I'd know why I'd paid 2 and a half times as much for one as I could have paid for a Harley Benton whick looks exactly the same. Does anyone have any experience of comparison between the 2? http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_squier_vint_mod_jazz_nt.htm http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbb1975_na.htm Thanks, Matt

17. I just have the 4X10 to go with it and a TE look-a-like 1X15. I guess I'll just see what the guy wants to offer me for it/them! I promised the previous owner I'd see anything I wasn't keeping go to a good home so would be reluctant to Evilbay them.....
18. Possibly, but it fits on the 4X10 perfectly (the feet match the recesses on the top etc) so I reckon it's made for a bass stack. Any ideas what I could ask for it? I've got a guy interested but don't want to either give it away or scare him off!
19. That sounds like the 4X10, no horn involved so I'm guessing that's the 1048? The cones on the top cab are indeed angled inwards on themselves!
20. Hi there folks! I recently picked up a job lot of bass gear as there were a few bits in there that I wanted, but a lot of it is going to need re-homing. I was just wondering if anyone could help me to identify these Trace Elliot cabs (model no's etc) and maybe suggest a sensible price that I might want to advertise them at; Unfortunately due to their age the model and serial numbers on the backs are no longer readable. The top one is an HF cab only, it says on the back that using it with a full range signal will invalidate the warranty but the previous owner has had a high pass filter added to the circuit so that there's no need for a crossover or bi-amping. The 4X10 has had the speakers replaced with uprated cones making it 400w rather than it's original 200w, and I'm told it's hardly been used since. Any help will be gratefully received! Cheers, Matt
21. They're built well too - I stoved the headstock on mine into a brick wall by accident while giving it the big'un on a music video shoot and it barely scratched it! I am seriously tempted by this just because it's a bargain, where were you before I paid £600 for mine??!!!
