  1. Yes listening to John Deacon I would say my pick tone is deeper and fatter Maybe it’s what we hear in the band when playing sounds thin but out front it’s not when in the band mix context I was trying to hear close to what I hear when I use fingers ( I have a soft to medium touch ) so maybe my pick tone isn’t too far off it already ? I keep thinking that several rock bands bassist use a pick and they sound great. I will keep working on it
  2. The full tone is more like a greater depth to the note .. you feel it more than hear it
  3. What kind of music / band ? Im finding in a single guitarist loud rock band I need a full tone
  4. I’m still chasing this pick tone !! With the band I’m finding pick playing is loud but not full sounding Finger playing is less loud but fuller and deeper which I can hear / feel How do I get closer to a full sound using a pick ( many obviously achieve this in a band ) but it’s still not happening for me so far Going to try a new compressor so maybe that will help ? Im after that softer attack ( don’t wish to use felt or rubber picks ) but a warm full tone for rock
  5. Any users of the Spectracomp can you advise if it’s a decent compressor? Looking for it to tame the boom on low notes when digging in so input to amp isn’t hammered to much Im moving on my Ampeg Opto Comp as it colours the tone slightly and want a neutral sounding compressor with simple adjustments
  6. That’s interesting and I can’t recall if I liked the onboard compressor on my Rm800 The Compressor on the ABM600 which I guess is the same works but it sounds like it 1: drops the amp volume slightly and 2: removes some of the top end. I would love to us it but I found it more restrictive than a benefit Ive now got the Ampeg Opto Compressor but I’m not sure if using it is helping anything ( I play rock in a band ) I understand what Compressors do but I also find that I’m using it more as an amp limiter so my VU input isn’t pounding into the red when loudest notes are struck
  7. Ok quick call to Ashdown has sorted it The Line In must have also something plugged into the main input as the ABM600 has an auto mute when nothing plugged in The VU meter is also correct as it monitors 3 locations of signal
  8. I’m referring to the EQ 9 band off button . Sounds flat yet the bass knob is definitely doing something as you see the VU meter input increase when you turn it !!!
  9. Anyone noticed that when you put the ABM into Flat mode the Bass control still seems to be in circuit ? Also the Line In doesn’t appear to work !! Be curious to know if others have seen this ( I noticed it running an external preamp pedal up front ) and the Bass knob was pushing the input level ( seen on VU ) yet the Flat button was selected ( EQ off )
  10. Update to the update … preferring the sound without the compressor so will remove from the board
  11. Decided to flip the compressor the other side of the SCR - DI Im only using the compressor as a limiter and I think it works better after the preamp instead of before it Great sounding pedal and liking the Ultra Low with some added mids put back in to balance things nicely
  12. Have you given them a tax reference UTR for the person who registered?
  13. Yet the registration asks for the UTR tax reference for the band or person registering How can that be done where there are four of you ? This isn’t a full time working band
  14. I went to their site and it said you need to register to get paid ?
  15. You need to be self employed with an HMRC UTR I believe ? How can you register if the band isn’t your income source ?
  16. Was offered a gig recently but you must be registered with Event U.K. No thank you !!! It’s ok if you’re a full time working band but for us others who do it for fun and expenses it’s not workable in my opinion ! This was a pub gig
  17. Well I think the issue has been resolved but I disagree the RM series is definitely suitable for home use with fan running ( normally quiet ) My ABM head has a noisier fan but it’s for gigging
  18. Agreed I’ve put it back to RM series only
  19. Great amps
  20. Mine fitted to Pedaltrain Metro 16 As I play with a pick I use Ultra Low in and run my ABM flat It’s my always on sound and I can add a tiny touch of drive using scrambler. The Compressor keeps everything in check so I’m not overdriving the SCR input of the ABM amp input. Note this tone wasn’t achievable using the ABM EQ alone so I’m pleased of the result Still got room to add a pedal tuner before the Opto Compressor but haven’t sorted that yet
  21. Sounds like a good plan. Top tip with the EVO II heads is that often the rear “headphone” button gets pushed in and you get zero sound out to the main speaker ! Happened to me a few times and after an initial panic you realise the switch is engaged for headphones out only ! You will like the EVO II heads My new RM800 last year was around £450 new !!
  22. Yep they do appear to be 8-32 UNC which nearly is a match with an m4 screw, definitely works so threads must be close enough. I think m4 is a common screw thread such as kitchen handle screws etc as example. Ideally you need it to be around 10mm long I’ve now fitted mine using Velcro on to my Pedaltrain Metro, did consider 3M dual lock but that stuff is hard moving pedals again so used 50mm wide Velcro 👍
  23. A search showed they were an imperial screw thread. I had a selection of short metric screws ( m4 ??? ) and the tapped holes are deeper than the rubber feet threads so my longer screws still worked. They appeared to screw in fine so the threads were a close match and after I unscrewed one to try the rubber foot again it screwed in again fine. Give my a day or so and I will check and confirm the threads I used were m4
  24. I didn’t like using Velcro and went over to 3M dual lock but that can be tough pulling pedals off ! Gone back to 2” wide velcro and this holds my Ampeg SCR-Di ( removed rubber feet screws ) and my Ampeg Opto Compressor ( rubber feet removed ) … liking the simplicity of the Velcro and it works fine
  25. I loved my RM800 EVO 2 and only sold it as I went for the ABM 600 head Very loud decent amps and mine was very quiet.
