As a relatively new player I copied what I saw and got a nice quality strap and some strap buttons. I play at home and rehearsal studios and I move around a bit but I’m not crazy. My bass fell off its strap even with the buttons/washers on (and I do check it often). Thankfully no damage. Next day bought some Schaller (sp) strap locks cos it’s not worth the damage to my instrument for the sake of £20 or so. Proper mechanical connection , feels super secure. You guys and gals must be standing like our great leader Mr Entwhistle to make the buttons/washers work.

Still a bit much, I’m looking at that for the whole rig.

I see you have one for sale….. 😀

Thanks for the heads up but that’s too much for me I’m afraid.

Thanks that’s good to know. Is there just one version?

Hi everyone. I’ve been looking round at heads and really interested in an ABM as it has a valve preamp. I can’t afford a full valve amp but want some of that creamy slightly broken up valve tone - will I get that with an ABM? The older ones seem to be reasonably priced second hand and from all reports tend to be super reliable with good advice from Ashdown if needed which is a real plus for me. Weight isn’t an issue for me. Are there any models to avoid or look out or any common problems to be aware of? I pretty good with electronics and could do some fault testing and replacement of valves and some components but would prefer one that works well to start off with of course!

Errr is this possible? Switch to headphones on a pedal
Minininjarob replied to Minininjarob's topic in General Discussion
Thanks that sounds exactly what I need. I’ll take a look. -
Wasn’t sure where to put this, mods please move if you need to and accept my apologies. I would like, via a footswitch/pedal, to be able to switch between the output to my amp and a set of headphones, so I can turn my output off to keep noise down but still hear myself through the headphones. I don’t want the sound in the headphones otherwise. I have a boss Tu3 at the start of my pedal chain but I would want to hear the output post effects. Is there a pedal that can do this, or maybe a combo of a couple of things? This would be perfect for practice or in the church setting I may be playing in.

I prefer to use a hardwood they are easier to work with.
-
Thanks but its not as good in real life but I had to rush to make it.

I was taking the same. I could make a reverse one to fit on top of the cabinet to hold the head BUT it would suffer from vibration issues and it would have to be carefully made to suit both the cab and the head. If it’s a small class D head it’s probably be better to just Velcro it to the top of the cab.

If anyone else wants one I can make another, just message me and I’ll see what I can do. It’d be a fun project. Material cost/bit of money for my time/postage would be the cost. Wouldn’t be much though. .

I will weigh mine, hang on. EDIT - 1350g. It’s not as big as that Gator one though.

I can maybe make one for others if they want one. The standard of this one wasn’t my best work, I wanted to make it out of oak but my normal wood shop has stopped sells shorter lengths so I just got some basic wood from Wickes. I only had a day to make it while I was WFH in my lunchtime!!!

I honestly hadn’t seen that - it wouldn’t work with my amp anyway as the stand is too shallow. Looks a bit naff too IMHO
-
Thanks very much that’s very kind of you to say.

I don’t think it affected the sound, more it pointed it the right way, but it did sound great to be honest. Was rock solid too.

Ok so my GK MB112II combo is loud. Weirdly loud for such a small unit. But when I’ve taken it out the house it’s too small to be able to hear it properly as it’s firing along the floor. So I bought an amp stand. Which didn’t work as it was designed for a guitar amp which is shallower. There might be better ones which work better for my amp but I didn’t have time to find one as I needed one for last night. So I bought a £9 bit of wood, 22mm x 144mm by 1800mm and made one. I cut a 90 degree angle in 2 identical length at the same time so each side was identical, then braced it together with various bits of wood until I got bored. I just tried to get the biggest tilt on the amp with the 144mm wood width - no audio science here. The width is determined by the space inbetween the (rather large) amp feet. Glued and screwed together and sanded all over and it was done. So the amp fires at me direct when it’s maybe 2m away approximately, it’s super solid and quite light and easy to pack away with my other gear. I might varnish it, I might not! Anyway, I’ve not seen anyone else with something like this or even seen one for sale (I didn’t really look to be honest I just needed a solution fast!) but it works perfectly and costs so little!! if you need something like this have a go at making it yourself, it’s not hard and doesn’t need any special tools.

Bass notebook - little request which I’m stumped on!
Minininjarob replied to Minininjarob's topic in General Discussion
Not gonna happen….. 😂 -
I would like a blank notebook with bass (4 lines) staves printed on so I can make my own tabs for songs I’ve been practising. Here’s the problem - I want it to lay flat so ring/spiral bound. Can’t see the point in one that doesn’t lay flat! Size not very important. I have wrangled with Google for half an hour now and I can’t believe I can’t find one!

At least they are being honest upfront about who they want to work with. Saves time wasting on both sides.
