1. Up for sale is my much loved 2002 made in Mexico Fender Jazz bass in 3 colour Sunburst. I bought it in 2006 used but in great condition from a guy who owned it from new. It comes with all the tags, allen key, a tan suade levy's strap and a basic hardcase. It has an aftermarket tortoiseshell effect pickguard fitted and also comes with the original white pickguard. The tortoiseshell pickguard was fitted by the previous owner and looks great, however it had to be cut a little to fit around the pickup. It plays wonderfully and is very versatile. The bass was my main gigging bass for about four years and therefore has many little dings and scratches which give it a great worn in look in my opinion (who wants a bass which looks like it has spent its life unplayed in a glass case?!). The nut has a small chip out of it which is superficial, however I will include a new graphtech nut which I have not got around to fitting myself. It is currently strung up with regular rotosound swing bass strings which have some life left in them. Unfortunately I don't use it in any of the bands at the minute and haven't for some time now so it needs to go to fund other stuff. I'm based in Newcastle upon Tyne and collection would be preferred but I'm happy to deliver in the North East for petrol cost, or arrange for courier if posting further afield. The 2011 model which is slightly updated goes for well over £500 new. http://www.thomann.d...rw_bsb_2011.htm How does £350 sound? Make me an offer! I'm not interested in trades or p/x. Cheers, Andy Hopefully these pictures will work! ps the bass is fitted with flats in the pics as they were taken years ago but it now has rounds. 2. I need the money and no longer need this bass so any offers will be considered! Spec: Top : Spruce Back & sides : Ashwood Machine heads : Chrome diecast Position marks : Dot Controls : Timber PLUS PreAmp & Shadow pick-up Finish : Satin This bass retails for about £250 new & comes with a padded gigbag worth £15 so get yourself a good deal! Ideally pick up from Newcastle-upon-Tyne/ Stockton-on-Tees, but I would be willing to post. If in Newcastle you're welcome to try it out! Unfortunately one of the tuners is damaged (it has very little grip and the string will de-tune itself in a few minutes - no idea why as it just starting happening one day randomly) and will need replacing. This should not cost very much to replace. I have fitted a thumb rest (which can be removed with a little bit of work if needed) so you can rest your thumb like on an electric bass' pickups. Currently strung up with Fender nickel flats and I still have the original rounds which will be thrown in. It would benefit from a minor set up and a bit of love! Thanks for looking, Andy.
3. Cheers for the responses. I'm ideally after a bridge where the individual saddles can be moved backwards/forwards so I can properly intonate...
4. Hey hey, I found this and though other people may enjoy it too! It is one hell of a line. link All the best, Andy
5. Hi! I hope that this is the right forum for this topic. I have an Eastwood Classic 4 which I'm looking to upgrade a bit as the hardware isn't great. It has a floating bridge (gretsch/hofner style thing) which annoying is not adjustable so I cannot improve the intonation at all! After a decent amount of Google-ing I can only find this which is kind of what I'm after except: a. It's gold. b. It's based in the US of A (which isn't ideal but wouldn't be the end of the world). Does anyone know of somewhere where I could find a bridge like this? Ideally in Chrome! Thanks, Andy.
6. This man is a pleasure to do business with! A real gent. I'm very pleased to say that I'm the proud new owner of this fine bass.
7. Ok I need rid of it now! Any offers will be considered. This is the last chance before it is thrown on eBay!
8. It's still for sale! £100? It has been sat in my cupboard gathering dust so it needs to go.
9. If I had the money, I'd buy this right now. These are great basses so have a bump on me!
10. I met him at a bizarre but enjoyable gig at Leazes Park (I think) bandstand and he is a gentleman. We shared the same wierd bill and were followed by some kind of Bhangra act. Don't let his appearance fool you - he owns a car and lives in Whitley Bay I think!
11. The man is a legend! He makes me feel somewhat inferior. He needs to get himself an unreal drummer and an original vocalist and they would rule the world...
12. Not bad! I was expecting much, much worse.
13.
You'll be needing a Shuker JJB P bass too then That's a fabulous punch in the face bass...
I need to get saving up! And sell some stuff/organs/sexual favours...
14.
It has something to do with CND, which Glastonbury was heavily involved in, or vice versa, in the 70's-I believe JJ reckoned CND was funded by the Russians, and I've seen interviews where he claims to have been proved right-I don't know how true that is. As to how they got in-it has been said that as the Stranglers and the Wurzels share the same management, and the Wurzels are having something of a renaissance at the moment, Eavis wanted the Wurzels but was told he could only have them if he had the Stranglers too. Again not sure how true that is, but it wouldn't surprise me..
Interesting! Thanks for that. The Wurzels were a fine addition to the lineup and the Avalon Tent was massively overflowing with people - So I understand why Eavis would put up with having The Stranglers on his lineup to have The Wurzels too!
15. Ah so that's why the bass sound was like being punched in the face in a good way! My ashdown rig needs another cab (I need money first though...)! Does anyone know why they fell out with Eavis and were only just allowed back?
16. A hit-spangled set! Fail to anyone who was there and went to see England lose instead - although I'm not complaining as I was able to get to a spot about 10 people from the front. Good bass playing and a great live sound. RIP Pete.
17. I just got to the stage in time to see Stevie on his back going wild with a keytar! Pretty good set really, more suited to a festival than when I saw him at MEN (last year I think) - which was also a great gig. Sound wasn't excellent but good times were had. I Just Called was the highlight for me!
18. Personally I thought that they were pretty fine, not quite up to the standard of their Wembley Stadium gig though. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't bring out their UFO prop but I was loving the pipe. Playing a bit of House of The Rising Sun was a nice touch too, as was bringing The Edge out! On a slightly different topic, I have been fully converted to The Stranglers! What a thunderous live bass sound - I think I spotted JJ using four (!) Ashdown 410 or 412 cabs!
19. I've gigged many a time through a somewhat antique peavey keyboard combo - 200W I think. Did the trick tbh and more than enough volume. I also own a microbass practice amp which was damn good for the money. Hope this helps!
