Thanks Mark, it is, I'm surprised it's still here, even if I say so myself. I think the thought is that 'only' 250W for 1 cab is insufficient. Believe me brothers, you'd need to try and go really silly loud to find this amp inadequate with one cab. However, still here it is but shouldn't be so, on Thursday, it will go for a 10 day excursion on the dreaded ebay. Poor thing. Save it someone, it won't like it, it wants the love of a bass player, not a 'get something for cheap' ebay troll. It might have to go naked too as the gig case is a nice thing that could be used by someone I know. Oh, bump btw!

Portability. I have just sold all my other gear, I got a Hartke 115 and 210 because I was fed up trying to hump my Trace 410 downstair every time I played. Now I'm used to Barefaced, moving the other gear to sell was unbelievable. I was astounded I used to regularly move this stuff into and out of the car and around the house. Its a one way move from these lumps to the tiny and lightweight for me. I would say there has been a compromise on sound, but so slight that I don't want to go back. Whether they will be better on sound will be your opinion etc, and that would be interesting to hear. They are without doubt so much easier and more practical in use.

I'm sure he won't mind an email asking expected delivery time for your order.

I have found in my too many years to admit that playing goes like that, plateau, rise which satisfies for a while before the next plateau. Normally some sort of progress sets me on the next rise, if you're already in a band or that's not doing it and learning a couple of new songs you thought you couldn't play isn't happening either, pay for some lessons. Just buy a handful you can tell the teaching person you just need a shot in the arm. You'll quickly pick up stuff you wouldn't have otherwise and it'll give another 6 months!

Very attractive lady with a great figure, plays bass like most of us could only dream, gives us some jazzy vibes from a band of amazing musicians she leads and writes for, plays some great solos on the upright and sings like an angel at the same time as playing complex syncopation on a Jazz bass. What's not to like? Actually, I take the points about the lack of hooks and how wearing listening to a decent amount can be. Not there yet though, still playing on Spotify as I sit working at my laptop in the garden.
I have given her another go. May have been a bit harsh with my 'rubbish' comments but I still don't like her. I just don't like the stye of music, it's always sounded like everyone in the band is playing a different tune, key, time to everyone else. I fully expect to get some stick for this but i just cant do modern Jazz stuff. Just sounds too cacophonous to my ears.
I think most people are happy to listen to an opinion, even if it's detrimental but an unqualified statement that something 'is rubbish' is different to saying you don't like it.
Gates is the Rick isn't it? Sound Chaser and To Be Over is the Jazz. What about Red Barchetta?
You're right. Rick for Gates, just had a listen, was thinking of a different track before. The other two are a Jazz. Your turn now, Barchatta is Rush, or are you asking whether Geddy is using a Rick for that one?
I've seen him use a Jazz bass, a non reverse Thunderbird & his old faithful Rickenbacker (along with many other basses) & he sounded pretty much the same with all of them.
Have a listen to 'The Gates of Delirium' from Relayer - def Jazz Compare to 'Roundabout' (and, of course 'The Fish') from Fragile - there's your Rick. btw, any other animal name bass players to add to this and The Ox?

He stuck to his guns in playing as he wanted. I think he was fortunate that Yes took off as it did, wonder what he would have done otherwise. I admire him, I think too many go for that 'professional' style rather than something creative. Plenty more work available with the 'professional' style but I'm thankful for those who stay in the creative mould.

Just getting into early Yes, avoided it at the time as I didn't like the geeky kids at school who liked Yes. Taken me a while but grown up now! I understand Chris used the same bass throughout his career (as opposed to getting through dozens of cream Rickenbackers). Is this true?

Does anyone know how basses are sold each year ?
Similarly I'm very curious how often instruments sell in stores. I'm sure someone here would have worked in a music store. If so can you tell me which store and on average how often you sold instruments. I'm a little curious about % total sales for certain other items too. e.g. amps, picks etc.
Bet guitarists buy more plectrums! -

In our church we have 4 guitarists on the rotas and probably twice that again in the church who can play/have a guitar = 12. There are 2 bass players. 2÷12 = 16.67%. I would say 1 in 6 is about right. Do guitarists have as many guitars as bassists have basses? -
Your gear is the last thing you need to worry about. A pro band playing big venues will use in-ears. Check out what the band requires. Having said that most touring bands centre on the Ampeg SVT 810 with good reason. Go with the flow, it’s a good reason. To broaden out the discussion, you need to play with confidence and that comes from hard work, practice and rehearsal. You need an extra level of evenness to your playing and your timing has to be right 100% of the time. The big difference between a good pro and a good semi pro is their timing. Your playing situation has progressed beyond "fun" and is now work; enjoyable and satisfying but work just the same. I'm jealous. Enjoy it, it's the best feeling in the world. Good luck
+1 to all this, except if you've reached that point you probably already know this! Not sure about the in ear stuff though, don't see that instead of backline too often. Your sound will, of course, be foh, its just your own monitoring and if you're going to be moving around and away from your rig its going to have to be pretty powerful to be heard above the rest and outdoors. If the bass rigs will not be provided I would suggest the 210 is not going to be enough, adding a second may be, but just. For pro stuff you'll need a backup rig anyway. Can you not buy a second, identical stack for backup and use it when required? And +1 to the jealous, best feeling, good luck part too!

The bass that you shouldn't have let go of ...
I had about £4-5000 worth of jazz basses coming in an out last year- sold them all.... didn't get on with them.
Do you think that, maybe, Jazz basses aren't for you? -
