1. Haven't been overly inspired composition wise for a while, been tinkering with my bass and stuff as you do! I thought I would make an attempt for the new year! It is what it is! Track is called "Colorado" https://www.youtube....h?v=UKFt5B9HqyE Cheers, James Edit to add Soundcloud link: https://soundcloud.com/foolsjourney/colorado

4. Thanks alyctes...! It really is a great instrument, shame that the neck width is a tad too wide for you ! James
5. For sale: Tanglewood Bassmaster Funk Straight Sale only. Rare opportunity to buy a Tanglewood Bassmaster Funk...... The stuff of myth and legend..the infamous poor man's Spector /Warwick Streamer copy. Excellent condition for an early/mid 90's instrument....it has the original wiring which you may want to sort out but too complicted for me...I can just about rewire a Precision bass! Upgraded with a 42mm brass nut, everything else is original. Nice and light so easy on the back and shoulders.I have setup with a nice low action.Has newish strings on it made of unicorn hair. Pickups have a couple of screws missing here and there but are solidly in and that be sorted easily and cheaply. It has active pickups powered by a 9v battery and the sound it produces is one of the best I have experienced....very versatile too...would work well for most playing styles. It has bags of punch, sustains for days on end and growls like a bear with a sore arse. I am open to reasonable offers. Just to note, meetups and personal collection is a bit dificult for me as my work hours vary all the time. I have feedback somewhere, if you want to check it out, but I can assure you that I am not a serial killer if that helps? Cheers, James.
6. Well, a week off work.... and I just can't be trusted to not do something musical... ! So while taking a break from original music writing and the composition challenges, I have spent the week doing a version of Tangerine Dream's Choronzon.. in between setting up and maintaining a "new" bass guitar.....might appeal to 80's electronic music geeks. (like me). https://soundcloud.c...ine-dream-cover Cheers James
7. Hello, Available for purchase is a rather lovely Les Paul bass copy in trans-red, with unbranded headstock... It is in excellent condition. A sad sale but really need the money to put towards some new music software currently. Not sure of wood or country of origin Far Eastern I guess but is of a very decent quality. Not many Les paul copies around nor at this bargain price, has a carved top with binding on body and neck in cream. Also this is a full scale 34". Other Features: Gotoh tuners 34" scale Bone nut 42mm trapezoid inlays Black speed knobs with Gibson style pointers Gibson style strap buttons new alpha mini pots cloth wire Xicon caps switchcraft jack Brand new Rotosound Nexus black strings guage 40 just fitted. Easy to play with a medium low action, not sure of exact weight I would say medium to heavy, fairly typical of this style of bass... It is not a bad sounding instrument, it's kept me happy,it sounds clean and bassy like a bass generally sounds...I guess you could upgrade the pickups though. Could be a very nice starter bass for someone who likes the les paul shape or a backup instrument...I would be happy to use it as my main instrument No case or anything else. Courier delivery 24hr to UK mainland only please, will come in box. As I work hours which vary a lot I can only offer postage but will say £12 and I will cover the rest. Payment by bank transfer prefered or Payl gift payment. Pics: Note that it now has the black strings fitted as in first couple of shots. Also note that it is a nice deeper red than the orangey red that is captured in the pics! 8. Bought some Gotoh bass tuners from Steve. No hassles, as described and sent quickly.. highly recommended. James.
9. Wow it's really close so far...all joint first/last on zero points !
10. Slightly changed the eq'ing on mine, seemed a bit bass heavy so I have re uploaded a new mix to soundcloud.. This one came together pretty quickly, but sadly as a consequence,I have also very quickly lost complete interest in it.. maybe going to take a break from making music for a while. *Edit to post* Changed my mind and decided to add the video as I think it puts the music in a better context. I think it works quite well, but then I would say that! Also a new upload to Soundcloud. Both versions can be found below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl71mvxKaOg&feature=youtu.be https://soundcloud.com/foolsjourney/free-ride Cheers, James.
11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkHAAczAl8A&feature=youtu.be My entry for this month...went for the snowboard theme....80's influenced and fast paced.... a possible rejected track from The Breakfast Club! Cheers, James
12. Ok, thanks for that Dad!! ... in that case ...congratulations also go to me and fingers211 for 2nd place and xgsjx for coming 3rd! Look at it this way, you come 1st every month with the music reviews, and are as entertaining as the challenge itself.
13. *~*~ A BIG Congratulations to Leonard Smalls, very well done- a deserving winner !! *~* ...... er so who actually came 2nd and 3rd place, seeing as I have only looked this morning and it seems someone voted after midnight? All I see is a joint winner and me 2nd..?
14. ... Naive aspect ... heh Thanks for the honest opinion Dad, I appreciate that...Not my usual musical territory, to be fair! I promise not to induce migraines with my kick drums next time! Cheers James
15. Hello, I nearly wasn't going to bother this month, but after reading certain comments regarding techno beats I decided to take up a musical challenge ... mostly because modern dance music really isn't my forte, I'm more into the classic electronic music styles like Tangerine Dream etc.... so there you go. I have tried to capture the power of thunderstorms, nature, tornadoes and storm chasing all wrapped up in a edm style with a Native American influence.(?!) Does it work?.... who knows, but I had a lot of fun with this one I shall present you with my track "ThunderHead" : https://soundcloud.com/foolsjourney/thunderhead James.
16. *~*~ CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS SKOL303 ~*~* a very deserving winner for this month ! Special mention also to Dad for being runner up and doing such an excellent review on my track, the singer was well chuffed! I am just happy to have come within the top 15 to be fair, as I cheated by using a real musician to help out Cheers, James
17. I have re-uploaded my entry for this month..... adjusted and balanced the levels a little bit now... so you can actually hear it or not be deafened by it! https://soundcloud.com/foolsjourney/sacred-places Cheers, James
18. My entry for this month.... Lyrics and vox by my mate Rach, everything else by me. She only had last Saturday evening to come up with words, a melody between us and then record it over some crappy chords through a knackered £20 drum mic !! Please forgive the inconsistent sonic quality and levels etc At least it's another potential demo to work on at a later date if nothing else! https://soundcloud.com/foolsjourney/sacred-places James
19. Now edited to offer a straight sale for £35.00 inc postage.
20. Please may I ask a question? Is it within the rules to allow someone to add to a composition ie words and singing...as I am useless at both! James.
21. Hmmmm verrrry... interesting... *rubs chin* I'm going to put my bikini on and submerge my head in a bucket of water for a while, then see what I can come up with...if I don't drown first. James
22. Looking to swap a literally new Zoom B1on for someone's unwanted set of 4 inline *good brand* nickel precision bass tuners ... not sure about this term *relicing* so I will call it a "sympathetic restoration" to a bass . As long as they are fully functional and hold tune well, not bothered about cosmetic condition.. The sounds in the B1on are amazing, it is not a toy...The plastic case is tough. Will include box, unopened instructions and the slightly used batteries that came with it..... to be honest there is simply way too much in it for me that will just not get used, and have realised that maybe I should just stick to bass>lead>amp...life is just more straight forward that way. http://i1377.photobu...zpsr1opcac0.jpg Let me know what you have Cheers, James.
23. Quite a few stand out tracks, but have now voted for my top 3. James
