An Epi UL 210 on top should be all you need.

I have owned two of these in the past (though not at the same time, as that'd just be greedy) and they were both great basses. I always found them to be more powerful than most passive basses, and the low Bs were "mos' righteous". Highly recommended.

Three basses (two Mk 1s and a Mk 3) have sold on eBay in the last week, all for £2k+! Interestingly, the Mk 3 went for the "smallest", which I guess means people regard the Mk 1 as the "classic" Wal to have.

I think this is all to do with Pete retiring, and the uncertainty for future production that this has created, but from what I understand the Wal marque will continue, and importantly be in very good hands, when it does resurface.

Yep, I have one and it's a great piece of kit. Every bit as good as the UL series (I should know, I had one of them too), just one channel and different cosmetics. If you want the Epi sound this will give it to you.

NB: One screw will be missing from the tuners; it obviously sheared off at some point!

Well they gave me more old skool thump than a set of rounds do Chris, but I take your point! I think the thing is I just don't get on with that instant decay flats usually have - I realised I just like nice zingy roundwounds that sustain, so that's what I'll stick!!!!!

Hi there

I think this is something all players go through. There is no right or wrong, and I am not qualified in such things so this is just what has worked for me, but there are certainly some things you can do to maximise the comfort, both short- and long-term, that will make sure you can keep playing.

First of all, do you stretch and warm up your arms and hands before you play? If not I find it makes a big difference. A great simple exercise is to put your palms together, fingers facing up as if praying, and then just move your wrists down while keeping your palms together.

Second, ideally your wrists [b]should[/b] be straight. The optimum height for your bass therefore is when your wrists are both straight when you play; anything else and you run the risk of CTS. How you wear the bass across your body (i.e. flat across the chest or with the neck out in front of you) can affect this so try it both ways.

Third, avoid resting the forearm of your plucking hand on the body of the bass.

Fourth, use a wide (say 3.5") strap. This will spread the weight of the bass and reduce the likelihood of bad posture adversely affecting your playing. Related to this, have you adjusted your strap since you changed to the bigger body shape? It may be worth revisiting the ergonomics of your whole setup?
