Cheers folks, there is a drastic change on the nut tbf - standard to A#. But that was the exact same back in ‘22. Every bass I get gets the same treatment.

String gauge is usually 105 to 135.

Okay, so yes, a new nut may well be in order.  You could wrap fine gauge sandpaper around each string and then run them up and down the nut slots to file open the existing nut (put a little pen mark right at the bottom of each slot so you don't take it lower!), but I appreciate you may not be comfortable with that!

  2. Are you going to a much heavier gauge? You may not need to make any changes if it's just the next gauge up.  As @bassbiscuits says, you may need to adjust the intonation and relief, but you may not!

Also, I've never had to drill out a strap lock hole to allow for a bigger screw (and I have fitted Dunlop locks to loads of basses); I just put a little bit of wax on the new screw and they always go in easily enough.

As to cost, these are the kind of tweaks I've made on my basses for years, so I'm afraid I have no idea. Sorry :(

I did a marquee gig once where the lights were running off a generator and the band were running off a daisy chain of extension leads from the house. As I understand it, that had some very dangerous possibilities!!

I did a very similar gig.  Rain was so heavy it was pooling in the canopy right over the PA mixer and amps 🥶

  4. Just the PSU left now.  No box but I will include a mains plug USB adaptor plus a short micro USB cable to charge the PSU with.

Here we have a used but not abused Rockboard Tres 3.0 pedalboard setup that, with the addition of the power supply and patchbay, means you are set up and ready to go. No need for mains power to the board, you just charge the power supply before the gig and you can enjoy hum-free pedals all night!  I've never had any issues with this setup.  The battery can do a two set gig with no issue.

New, all of this would have been £200, so I think £125 posted is fair.

    Thanks for looking :)

EDIT: Forgot to add proof of ownership to the pictures, but hopefully pages and pages of feedback (see link in signature) will confirm I am a legit seller!

Okay, but it looks like you are saying you set the capo at the first fret and aim for 2.5 etc. I wasn't being sarky by any means, just trying to be helpful to other readers. Jeez....

Well, it came across as sarcastic, but I stand corrected.

Ummm...you only use a capo to set the relief old chap, not for setting action. Just sayin'.

I know you set relief with a capo. The two sentences in my post are separate statements; the first sentence refers to the action, the second to the relief.  Just sayin...

Im based in the southern part of the country close to a town called Kalmar.

I've been there. You have a beautiful castle in the town if I remember correctly.

  8. Hej!

    Välkommen till basschat :)

My aunt and uncle lived in Höör in Skåne for many years. We had lots of great winter and summer holidays there. Beautiful part of the country and lovely people.

  9. I had Strings Direct put together a custom "balanced tension" set of D'Addario XL nickel roundwounds for me and they are great: 42, 55, 75, 100, 135.

No issues with the B at all.

  10. I had a Sire P8 that was a terrific bass. Everything about it was top notch, and I had no concern at all with the B string.

    But...

I sat in Andertons and tried six basses of the same spec when I bought it, and they were all very different. Yes they had the same core tone, but two weighed more than a small planet and two had dodgy electrics. I don't remember the B strings being particularly bad, so that's a plus.  The one I bought was a superb bass and was the perfect combination of playability, weight, tone and QC being spot on.  The others, much less so...
