2.
I read an article in this month's Musician, The MU magazine, that Bill Bruford hasn't worked for two years because he doesn't feel up to the job. He just doesn't want to play. If Bill's not up to it what hope is there for the rest of us? Anyone else heard this story?
I read his autobiography earlier this summer. Really interesting. He's just a normal bloke who got fed up with dealing with knobs in the music industry, stroppy musicians, touring, being away from home/family. Also suffered from huge self doubt. I felt a lot better after reading it. I realised that if someone as talented and esteemed as him can feel like that, then so can a nobody like me. I choose what I do so much more now, without feeling that I have to play at any opportunity.........sometimes I turn down playing so I can spend a night in watching a crap DVD with the kids... I'm no less a musician for it. He has some interesting thoughts on Yes's lyric writing too!!! made I laugh, pretentious nonsense.
3. Could courier this for £20 now. Mates guitar shop will do it for me. Packed well, obviously!

5. There's something about this key that get's me every time...................... but I just can't put my finger on it.
6.
so why have I allowed myself to be seduced by other basses?
Honestly Chris, what you like???? Oh yeah.....like me

11. Packed in gigging with the covers band..........hated playing the songs, and to audiences who were too p@@sed to care if it was a disco or not! Packed in playing live with originals band coz at 49, I really can't be bothered with the whole getting on late waiting around for other bands to play, sharing gear, poor pay, generally being a miserable git! But I still write & record for them, just get some young keener to get in at silly o'clock. Love playing live with the jazz quartet though, probably because we're all grumpy old men together....
12.
If you can find one £300 should see you to a 1979 ibanez roadster. This bass will give fender jazz's and musicmen a run for their money. I've had mine for 7 years and it's never leaving my side, set the action real low and it'll tap like the best of them, simple to use with one vol and one tone pot with surprisingly versatile tonal range. If you can find one you will fall in love instantly. Built like a tank too! And resale value will only go up. Bonus's all round, I'm willing to bet anyone who's played one will agree. Get one it's worth it! Russ
+1 P/J config, Jap built quality (mine's got an alembic pre in it), but they are very well made. I have a Streamer std (been modded q. heavily), but they are extraordinary good value 2nd hand (£200-300) for a German built passive bass.
13. 1x15 Cab sold. £200 for the combo, with cover.
14. One of these: http://www.musik-service.de/boss-tu-50-chr...95757272en.aspx Works fine, and has a funky light show when not in "tuning mode". In good nick..few marks where it's had the tray under it, and where I put velcro strips in the corners to place on top of my amp. No rack tray I'm afraid, but comes with a non Boss PSU "daisy chain" that works fine. I'll chuck pics up in day light. I don't really want a cash sale, I would rather swap for a pedal floor tuner please. Ta, John
15. SOLD One of these: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb01/articles/bossjam.htm I've not used it much, but a good devise for recording with, or as a backing band, or a teaching aid. I'll get pics up soon. Very good condition, with 64MB card, PSU original box and manual. Will be packaged securely for delivery. Paypal, cheque, or cash fine. John
16. Just had a look at your ad Criag...and I know I'm doing myself out of a potential sale, but I reckon your Marshall will be a louder option, if that's what your after. The Ashdown is very compact, which is it's only advantage from what I can see, and maybe the British build? John
17.
Another one of yours that I am interested in! Again, if/once the marshall stuff sells I' be all over this, but I wouldn't hold your breath! Bit of a noob question, after playing with the 300 watt marshall half stack, how do you think this handles quite loud rock gigs? It's the same power but through a single 10 and 15 rather than a 4x10...
Hi Craig. Not sure about comparisons. A 4x10 I guess shifts more air as there's more surface? Is your Marshall head using the full 300watts into the 4x10? Looking at the Ashdown web site and the manual I have, it doesn't tell me what the combo puts out without the extension cab. I'm really not good at this stuff, but there are a couple of guys here, like "bumnote" & "Stevie", who could give you the answer I'm sure. John
18.
No split? Bah! That combo is surprisingly small and light and John's a great guy to deal with.
Thanks for that Liam! I'll bear you in mind if you are after the 1x15, if the 2 don't sell together,....you'll then have my complete old rig.... Still loving the LMII & 4x8?
19. It's a production over run cab, with a Celestion in. I put an Ashdown grill on. Not sure how the Ashdown Mk1's were configured? The 1x15 is surprisingly light and, imho, quite bright for a 1x15, without losing any bottom end. How's yours?
20. Thanks guys, I didn't know they even made these as they don't appear on any Ashdown catalogue. I did suggest trying to load them with a Neo, but in the end the weight difference wouldn't be sufficient to justify. Pics now up.
