  1. More like a month or three! Sam x
  2. I want to move the 5 flatwounds to Quinn now (New bass event on Thursday and I want to get the setup done) and I cannot afford to buy a new set at present. Sam x
  3. I've a set of string on one bass, I'd like to move over to another (I cannot simply swap them as one is short scale and the other is not). If I leave a bass for some time (week) without strings is is going to bugg4r the neck? (I know that when I restring it, I'll need to let it settle and set it up again) Should I tweak the truss rod after doing this to remove the string tension adjustment? Sam x
  4. An absolutely lovely instrument in beautiful condition (No scratches/dings on fingerboard, neck or body, a slight chip next to the K&K jack/strap button ... see photo below), fitted with Medium Scale LaBella Black Nylon Tape Wounds (In good condition) and comes with a removable #02 Maple LuteHole Soundhole Cover and a Thomann Acoustic-Bass Jumbo Gigbag. I've moved on from the acoustic band I was in and so this beauty is getting no attention so she is looking for a new loving home. Guild web site: https://guildguitars.com/g/b-240ef-fretless-natural/ 30 3/4” scale length 4-string fretless acoustic bass with two pickup systems. The original Guild/Fishman Bass Sonitone under saddle pickup has had the under saddle pickup upgraded to a Artec PP 417 unit. This is an active system, running off a 9v battery (Compartment accessed externally) with vol & tone controls inside the sound hole. A K&K Pure Bass pickup (pair of transducers) has also been added, this is a passive system with the output jack incorporated into the bottom strap button. The two systems work in parallel and can be blended if desired. Audition available in Brighton or Worthing Collection preferred due to the size, however willing to ship in gigbag if buyer arranges this and covers the cost. Sam x
  5. Well, I've only gone and done it! I've managed to build my very first LV2 plugin Done on my MacBook M1 running Sonoma 14.2.1 Built as an Apple Universal Image. Runs a treat (Not that it does much!) in the MOD Desktop App for MacOS (Well worth a butchers if you've any interest in the MOD system https://github.com/moddevices/mod-app/releases/tag/0.0.5 can run on Linux/Win/MacOS). I endured many of the videos by https://github.com/sjaehn/lv2tutorial#programming-lv2-plugins-from-scratch-i---getting-started The backing music (And the audio effects) are ... painful, but he is very thorough (Apart from how to build, makefiles were birthed in Hell and are documented by the Illuminati!). For any interested parties, details of how I did it can be found at https://forum.mod.audio/t/building-lv2-plugins-for-mod-desktop-app/10926/16?u=samiam I've actually built two, the first in C, the second in C++. Next to look at is one at a couple of MIDI based examples and then I might jump into building the plugin I really want to build for my Dwarf, a Drummer in a box plugin in the same space as the Beat Buddy. Sam x
  6. Does it still have the same 4 slots per preset for f/x or dies it support more? Sam x
  7. Oh my, that IS a huge latency! I'm keen to see how latency is on a Pi5 MOD system, as the Pi5 is a lot more powerful than the Dwarf CPU and the RTL latency reports I can see for the MOTU M4 are v.low. Sam x
  8. Nods! I'm trading some PMs with the ModFather about OSS efforts ... On a totally different tack, I recently got a MOTU M4 (Partly as a general powerful audio IO unit and partly to see if I can use it as the IO for a Pi5 based MOD based system) I was very interested to see that when I plug it into my Dwarf, it comes up as an aduio device when I run aplay -l The MOD forum talks about some issues with getting such a setup working (Tho it works fine on the MOD Desktop App), the jack site describes how to aggregate audio devices ... I wonder if something like this might give you those F/X send/returns you were playing with back in the day. Haven't had a good try as at present I am banging my head (And it is VERY bruised) trying to build my first LV2 on a M1 Mac ... Sam x
  9. My Dwarf audio processor has both types of USB. One is used to connect to a computer and is used to access the web interface from a browser on the computer. The other is designed to have a USB 'Device' plugged in, such as a memory stick; this port can take the M-Vave USB cable and receive MIDI over it, it also provides power over the cable; this is the port I use to connect the Dwarf to my Morningstar MC6 via the MC6 USB port to carry MIDI and power. Sam x
  10. The USB port on the M-Vave and the one on the Zoom are both designed to be connected to a computer USB port (USB Host), they cannot be connected directly to one another, they are both USB 'Devices', like a mouse or keyboard. The bluetooth dongle is also designed to plug into a computer USB port (In this example it just plugs into the power brick), but it also has a socket that looks like a computer USB port (USB Host) and the Zoom can then be plugged into this. This guy has a tutorial. Sam x
  11. Not something I've ever considered, I seem to get enough (info and GAS drivers) from BC and other online sources. Sam x
  12. Some videos I've come across recently to share the power of the Dwarf! As you may have realised, I'm a huge fan ... are there any other audio processors that support effects, audio playback, synth generation, neural modelling and IRs all with multiple (Unlimited!?) pathways/chains? Sam x
  13. I concur ... I've got S-Locks on my three basses and two straps, they can be a bit fiddly to clip/unclip (and are not cheap) but they are very secure IME. Sam x
  14. For me it's a Tuner Compressor (Based on MXR Dyna Comp) Frequency Split @ 200Hz High goes through Octave (Based on OC-2) Distortion (Based on Dude pedal) then joins the Low and both enter Reverb for some 'room simulation' All of the above run on a MOD Dwarf audio processor (https://mod.audio/dwarf/), as does an MP3 audio player for our drum backing tracks. I'm starting to build a plugin that aims to behave like a Beat Buddy to drive a cajon generator to replace the backing tracks. I've also a Morningstar MC6 MkII and a small expression pedal to MIDI the hell out of the system. It all sounds sweet running into a TE Elf -> PJB C4. I've recently acquired an amp head that has direct input to the power amp which is very neutral, so I am starting to play with some neural models of different amps/cabs on the Dwarf. Sam x
  15. It strikes me that a seed for randomness in generating a random sequence for scatter winding is not important, in fact I can imagine that each scatter pup being randomised in the same way could be an advantage. Sam x
  16. You sir, are a fabrication GOD! Sam x
  17. She is thank you! I'm considering stripping the gloss coat shell off Quinn and oiling her. Sam x
  18. Quinn - GSRM25 Fyra - GSRM20B ʻElima KALA California 5 string fretless ubass Sam x
  19. And I'm out! I snagged a pair of preloved guitar stands here on BC, they were free ... I only had to cover postage so I was going to throw myself on the mercy of the judges. but Then ... somehow ... a MOTU M4 Audio Interface fell into my basket and I bought it (A cracking bit of kit!). Sam x
  20. Hi Dave, welcome to BassChat! I'm also a lover of shortscales and lightweight cabs (Bad back innit!) Sam x
  21. When I was looking at 3D printing a body, this was one I really liked (Tho I'd choose a different colour) https://electricflapjack.com/builds/phase-two/algen/ Sam x
