    Flightradar is so cool. I've just watched some in-flight refuelling taking place over the North Sea.

      I had a look.

       

      That's amazing!  I can't believe how much air traffic there is at any one time.  I like how it shows the different craft: Commercial jets, light aircraft, gliders and helicopters.

      The desktop version shows military aircraft too. The inflight refuelling I watched was a KC-135 tanker topping up an E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft. After fuelling, the KC turned for home (an airbase in Holland) and the E-3 just disappeared (presumably turned off its transponder for a secret mission).

      I didn't know about this until I read your post Rich. Brilliant stuff.

       

      So can you see military aircraft and actual see what they are doing? Nothing secret of course but fascinating to be able to observe some of the air activity
