1. Not sure if anyone posted this but I think this says it all http://www.bassplaye...ck-part-i/55398
2. I know its not the same cab but I have using a AE212 and I use Genz Streamliner 600 and a Mesa Subway 800 depending on the mood I am in and both sound great. So I can imagine that either amp would be good with AE112
3. Did Duff (GnR) not always play with a pick? Whole of Appetite is one big pick festival if you are looking for a song
4. I just bought a Mesa Subway D800 from Nick and it was such an easy transaction. Great communication and shipping done to suit me. Can't recommend Nick highly enough.
5.
I think you might be thinking of the first season theme. Above was season three and a different session. I do believe there were several versions over the complete run.
You are right. I didn't listen to the track just remembered that he played the original. My bad
6. Dallas was played by Arni Egilsson
7. Warwick Thumb NT has always worked extremely well for me
8. I just bought a cabinet from Emmett. He offered to drop it off at my work and if I did not like it I would just give it back and get full refund. The cab is perfect and all dealings with Emmett was spot on. Great guy to deal with

10. I have been a member since 2009 but hardly ever log in. I visit daily. I probably should contribute more since I have been playing for 25 years, have studied music and taught so could probably come up with a sensible suggestions sometimes. But I end up not doing anything about it. I have loved playing bass for all those years and will probably never leave basschat. One of the most friendly forums on the internet I have seen.
11. I have been thinking about these amps as an alternative to my amp for smaller gigs and was thinking about getting a TKS112. Does anyone have any experience in pairing these two together?
12. That's it. I saw you mention the pedal in a threat here. The sound is very much what I am looking for. Metallica used the Dual Rectifier amps for years so that is the sound heavy or not heavy. After I posted this thread I went and had a look at the reviews for the Ultimate Drive pedal from Joyo. It gets fantastic reviews from almost anyone buying it. Whats not to like. Costs almost nothing and sounds great. I plugged my guitar in and had a session and I was blown away by the sound of the pedal. I had forgotten how great it is. So I will stick with it. Why pay many times more for a pedal when you get close enough sound for fraction of the price. The reviews said it worked well with bass as well. I never use effects when playing bass. I bought Boss OC-2 back in '94 after reading an article in Bass Player but never found any use for it. Still have it mind you. Back to the point I plugged my Streamer Stage 2 in as well and the sound was huge. No loss of bottom end and I could actually for the first time ever see myself use a pedal when playing bass. So if anyone reading this (not very likely since this is the guitar section) is looking for a drive pedal for guitar or bass they should check out the Joyo pedal. It wont disappoint.
13. I am a gigging bass player but on the odd occasion I might fart about on a guitar at home. I have mostly been playing rock and metal (VH/Metallica/Megadeth/Living Colour) type of stuff (rhythm not the solos). I run my guitar (MusicMan Axis) through an old Fender RAD bass amp with couple of pedals in front. I have always wanted to have a decent distortion sound (not sure if I should call it overdrive) but since this is only ever going to be playing at home I have never wanted to spend anything on it. I have a Boss DS1, which to be honest does not sound good and Joyo JF-02 which I accidentally bought and sounds great. I was looking at the amp guitar amp section here and someone mentioned the Tech 21 SansAmp US Steel pedal so I was curious and had a look online and for what I want out of guitar playing it sounded perfect. So my question is, is the US Steel going to be worth that much more money than th JF-02? Does anyone have experience of either or both pedals. I know its all subjective and persona taste and all that but good to get other opinions on a subject you don't know much about
14. I had a gig with that band last night. All is fine and the footprint of the Fender amp is tiny. I am loud enough kind of but there are six of us and might be more on some occasion so space is important. Also I noticed last night that the amp is picking up mobile signal or what ever it is so there is a little buzz happening every so often. So might need a new cab after all. But what to get and how big? I have always known what I want/need/like from a bass and I know for a fact I will never buy one again but I just cant get excited about amps and cabs.
15. Thanks for all your points and suggestions. I just wanted to explain why I was asking the question. I have always been more into playing the music instead of getting the gear. I have been playing now for 25 years and in that time I have in total owned 7 bass guitars (I have 3) and that includes a beginner model and moving from 4 to 5 strings so I have always stuck to my choices and been really happy with them. In those 25 years I have only had 3 amps (the Fender I mentioned was even a freebee) and I still have 2 of these. So for me to look for gear is a bit of a novelty. The reason I started to think of another amp/cab was volume and space. At last few gigs I have been sitting on the amp to save space. So I was just wondering what other people do switching between louder gigs to smaller low volume gigs. I don't really want to have few cabs and amps but it is handy when you have different type of gigs to be able to bring the right gear to it. When I bought the Streamliner Berg combination I only had one project on the go and I went for the 212 to save space for storing it but to have always enough volume. I had been playing through a borrowed Hartke rig which was 410 and 115 two cab combo and I did not really have space to store that. I thought about getting 2 112 but that was more expensive at the time and it felt a bit of a waste of money. But after hearing what few of you do I can get a small cab but use my current amp. No point getting another amp if the current one will do the job. I had been thinking it might be too big but you guys have convinced me that will not be the case.
16. Thanks guys. I think I might look for a small cab but use the Streamliner. No point getting more gear when both I don't want to and don't need to. I am one for keeping it simple.
17. Many interesting points made here. The PA is very old which the fiddle player uses for her band. So not sure if I can DI but I could use the Streamliner for that. Traynor amps look very interesting but I have never seen them over here. MB200 seems to be very interesting and not expensive option and yes I had thought of getting another Berg 12 cab (2 for sale here in Scotland interestingly enough) but I don't think the guy wants to split them and not sure if I actually need another cab. Best response here was about my overkill rig. Never thought the bass would be the show off. I have been using Warwicks for 20 years so that never even enters my mind. I guess you get few looks when you take out 6 string fretless.
18. Thanks for all your replies. Specially to Skybone because I live 10 miles north of Perth. I found the strings as suggested here cheaper on amazon than strings direct but then Thoman came out cheapest. Thanks guys for all you replies. BC shows its magic again. Quick question, I use D'addario on my fretted basses but I have La Bella on my fretless. Why are La Bella strings so much more expensive?
19. What are the best/cheapest online shops for strings? I am after La Bella or D'addario strings Thanks
20. I am looking for an opinion from you guys who are gigging (and from anyone who has thoughts on the topic) amp size and cabs for small gigs. I play with a group of people 2 acoustic guitar and singers and piano and organ and fiddle (six of us in total). Its not loud and we have only played small venues yet. I am using an old Fender RAD75 and using Warwick Thumb NT 6 fretless. I think the Fender is fine but have had comments that I am not loud enough. I play in a rock cover band as well and I am using GB Streamliner 600 and Berg AE212 for that but since the other project is not that loud I find that rig a bit of an overkill and maybe a bit of a show of. What kind of set up are you guys using for small quiet gigs? I was thinking maybe GK MB200 or that small EBS (is it reidmar) with a small cab. Is that too big and should I just stick with the Fender? I am not big on getting extra gear I don't need so any advise/ideas appreciated.
21. Totally love that guitar. Looks exactly as something I would buy. Nothing like the good old '80s shredders
22. I just did a trade with Jon, bass and cash going in his direction. I felt very comfortable to do the trade and to send my bass to him and then for Jon to send his bass in that case back to me. Communication was top and everything in this transaction felt fair and trusting. Top bloke and I would not hesitate to recommend or do another transaction with Jon. Cheers Sveinn
23. I just wanted to quickly ask a question about the Items Wanted section before I post there so I don't break any forum rules. I will keep this non brand specific here so I wont break any rules. I am wanting to find out if there is anyone out there that might have a specific bass which is not that common and then ask if they are willing to possibly trade my bass which is of the same brand but not so rare. I am not wanting to sell my bass and only really wanting to see if a trade is possible but the chances of this is so rare. But you never know who is out there and if they are up for a change. Is this allowed or am I breaking the rules? Is this more a straight 'For Trade' thing for the Basses for sale section. I only want to trade for that specific bass and the chances are very slim (I think non). Thanks
