1. Jodie sold me a DJ John East Preamp. Was super easy to deal with and went the extra mile to send the pre amp all the way to Australia. Great communication! Would happily deal with again. Cheers Jon

5.
sounds like you need to enable the power out to drive the mic... page 109 of the manual
Paul Cooke you absolute legend thank you for that. I will be able to pass that info on to my mate as well. Have a great evening.
6. Hi guys, Was wondering if anyone else had issues with the Micro Br and getting a strong signal through the external mic/line out. I have bought one of those mini sony condensor mics and I am hardly getting anything from it at all. I have tried having the Micro Br being plugged in with a power supply and also have tried adjusting the sensitivity. Also tried other microphones and seems to be struggling to get any type of signal. Was just wondering if anyone else had this issue or whether people have been using external microphones without any issues. Thanks in advance
7. ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz the only thing that could wake me up is listening to that amazing horn section
8. Seems like you got the basic idea to get yourself familiar with working through chords. I would say definately transcribe some jazz blues walking basslines. I found this great after learning all the rules! Play chordal tones on strong beats etc. I would transcribe some of the jamie abersold tracks with Ron Carter on them. You can easily hear the bass. ITs great cause you learn how to play in a jazz feel as well as some tasty lines that you can combine with lines you have already worked out. Transcribing and just listening to lots of jazz in general and give you the idea of getting a good jazz feel as well as get an idea on appropriate phrasing. Keep up the good work
9. Well never let me don't to an extent that people in the pub knew what was going on. (Still got the gig again)
10. I generally save it for very special occasions. Basically when I didn't have to drive to a gig. The best one for me was free drinks for the whole band all night with shot chasers after every round. Chatruesse was the weapon of choice. I remember the first set but the second set not too well! All I remember was when a song finished giving a 20 dollar note to a random person in the front row and ordering him to buy me a beer and a shot and what ever he wanted. After doing that a couple of times I ended up falling off the stage into a bucket full of ice, getting up to then fall into the drummers kit. He didn't mind to much luckly. (Usually very precious with his gear) he was just as drunk and he had his top off (he never does that)! FUn times but I would say 99percent of gigs am sober cause I like to be in control. (basically dont trust my sub conscious) although never let me down
11. Welcome! Where did you originally come from? Also you might find some good deals on gear on this very forum. Have a look down the page and there might be something there you would like to get your hands on!
12. Hi i was just wondering, can you get away with doing gigs just going through a DI and have no amp? Are people still running amps with these DI's or are they just going straight into front of house with you hearing yourself through fold back? I am new around here and don't have a car and if I could get away with DIing for gigs that would be awesome! Just checking to see if it is acceptable. Thanks
13.
Welcome I know a guitarist from Adelaide who has been in Guilford and who has moved to London also recently. Would you like an introduction? They're looking for jam nights as well.
sure chances are we have meet before adelaide being one of those places! Or at the very least we both know someone from adelaide
14.
If you're lugging gear around on public transport, it can be done with the right gear. I've done it with a bass in a gig bag over one shoulder, Pedaltrain Jr/Mini in a soft case over the other, and a Markbass CMD121P amp on a little folding trolley. But a car is certainly the way to go if you're gigging / practicing a lot! Which part of London have you landed in?
Ha ha definately will be practising a lot at the moment! I haven't really got much of an idea how many gigs are going on in town! I have landed in Fulham SW. So I am surrounded in public transport if the opportunity to gig came up! MarkBass seems to be a popular amp over in the UK. It has been slowly trying to break it in Australia! I am actually interested in what there effect pedals are going to be like
15.
Welcome Mr Wilson As regards Jam nights, you're in the right place for them - probably more going on in and around London than anywhere else in the UK. Some of the good ones will be out in the 'burbs, so be prepared to travel a bit. You'll find musos on various websites - bandmix, musofinder, joinmyband, gumtree and many others - plus most music shops, rhsal rooms have pinboards with ads. Although much maligned, it might be worth checking out the shops in Denmark for ads. Taking a bass on public transport shouldn't be a problem, but you may wish to exercise caution on London night buses - matters can sometimes get a little frisky. Rail and Underground's generally OK, but don't miss the last train. Viz: your possible need for a P or a J - there are examples at all price points passing through the BC Marketplace - Basses For Sale section all the time. Cheaper than the bay or shops, and you get to meet nice people.
That is good news about the jam nights, I actually found one at the Elm Tree pub. Was delayed by 2 hours cause they had the football on but once it got started the house band was good. I think next time I might sign up and have a go! I am willing to travel around if there is a good night to be had! Also thankyou for the website I will have a look.
16. Hi guys, Since I have gotten to London from Australia I have been following this forum and love it! It has just about everything I need. I have moved over from Australia just to mix things up. I was getting a little too comfortable in Adelaide where I am from so I thought a trip to the other side of the world would do the trick. Back home I played in original and cover bands and was slowly gathering up a lot of gear (I think GAS is the term you use) I have a fender jazz bass, Yamaha TRB, Aguilar DB750 with Aguilar 4x10, Eden Nemesis combo 2x10, Digitech synth wah, Ibanez synth, Ebs Octave pedal, a wooly mammoth copy pedal and a tech 21 sans amp. Well I have all that gear in storage in australia, but over here just have one bass. 6 string Raven West Guitar. (saw it on ebay and I like to try new things so I just bought it. Its a lot of fun and a whole new challenge. I have a feeling though I should have bought my Jazz bass over or bought a P bass cause it seems to be the sound over in london! ( only from what I have seen could be totally wrong) Anyway no matter I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for jam nights or other ways to meet the local musicians. I want to get back into it! Anyway thank you and keep up the good work with the forum. ps Does anyone lug there gear around on public transport only here or is it vital to have a car?
