I just broke in my second BB2. As Alex is suggesting “regular playing” to break it in, I downloaded a couple of clips from the Lakland basses site, where they are showing their different PU sounds. I made a playlist of approx. 15 minutes which I played for approx. 30 hours with increasing output level. Anyway, here’s alink to that section of the Lakland site. http://www.lakland.com/audio.htm It might help other people too, who do not have the time to break the cabs in with their own playing.
Invalid. Firstly one speakon connector is enough. I can't imagine anyone needing two. I use both XLR speaker outputs on my main rig but my amp has a stereo powersection without bridging option so here it makes sense to do so, otherwise I would have 300 watts instead of 600. On a mono rig you really only need one output. You can chain two 8ohm cabs it won't hurt and there is not any difference output wise, Secondly, If you don't like the subharmonic, you don't HAVE to use it. It is okay to keep it off really. Dialing it in just a little for dub works really nice btw, Just my 2p.
indeed!!! I love my ABM EVO3 UK, but I don't ever use: - the preshape (in fact I push it into the flat setting) - the compressor - the subharmonic - the line out - the master louder than 11 o' clock ....... As for adding a second speaker out: very often there is not enough space to fit a second speaker output. Even with my Mesa Walkabout, it wasn't possible to fit a speakon out due to space limitations. That's what I was told when i inquired with an official service center.

As much as I LOVE my Basswitch, it won't give him any drive sound. Another attempt at helping: As you apparently rely on "your Orange sound", I'd suggest a splitter and a Tech21 Oxford pedal just in front of the DI. This way you could emulate your preamp sound and send it via a DI to the FOH. The splitted (pre Oxford) sound is being sent to your amp. IMHO, his is the closest you are going to get to a solution both the soundman and you can live with (and will sound decent/OK/great depending on the settings)
Ooooooof that is lovely! Any chance of a 'before' photo too?
Sorry, I didn't take pics before the the refin. In fact it was some kind of vintage amber. a bit darker than this: http://www.basssandiego.com/images/600_Alleva_Coppolo_LM5_Vintage_Tint_Body.JPG

Well, in the meantime I got back my bass. Dave did a great job! Here it is: the black one:

The solution to any overdrive/DI related issue has been the same for me for years. The Tech21 VTBass (clean setting) as last filter on my pedal board is my weapon of choice. Any fuzz, overdrive or distortion you put before this has its unpeasant highs filtered by the VT and does sound great in the DI. I did multi channel live recordings made using this chain and, on the one hand a A-Designs REDDI, and the other hand an Aguilar TH500, TecAmp610 cab miked with a Heil PR40. Both signals sounded VERY close! I dont bother using the expensive PR40 anymore in a live setting.

Got my BB2 a few weeks ago a gigged it for the first time last night. Although I have been an Aguilar 12" guy (GS, db SL) for years, I must say that the BB2 does outperform a single SL112 in every aspect. Just like Alex told me, a single BB2 is almost a s loud a a 2xSL112 mini stack. MAYBE, if the BB2 was a 4 ohms cab it could even be louder than the 2xSL112 thing! I am selling my SL112s!
Just arrived. Absolutely brand spanking new. Bulletproof packing by Genz (massive padding inside). Still sealed in a bag with a big box full of packing. EXTREMELY impressed. This is the bass bargain of 2013. You couldn't buy a decent 1x12 for this. I was going to spend £1000 on a Berg but now, I've spent just more than a third and got the same type of cab. Excellent construction, really thick tolex, the handles are actually well placed, and very very easy to move. I sold my Tecamp M212 bargain a few years back and regretted it for a long time. I agree, once these are gone the price second hand won't be affected. This is staying with me. Perfect 4 ohm/2x12 lightweight cab. Trust me. Do whatever you can, whack it on a 0% credit card...its worth it.
Hey Gareth can you compare it to your trusted db212?
