  1. Bargain. Hardly any of these around and hard to get as they don’t do international shipping. GLWTS
  2. Matt was very patient with courier issues when buying some tuners from me! Easy communications and plenty of good humour. Very much appreciated Matt. Pete
  3. I’m going to cross post from my busking thread on the Everse 8. it’s very relevant here as I got to try out Stevie’s new 8” prototype cab. ‘So, I got the chance to try out a new prototype cab. It’s wonderful, very capable for an 8” cab. The driver for me for trying it out was having the Everse 8 distort a lot when I pushed it a lot harder on one recent busking gig. I was asking too much of it - outdoors, no walls nearby, playing with a drummer on a portable kit - but I realised that I want to step up my power/speaker size. When I compare directly to the LFSys 8” prototype. I now appreciate more cabinet resonances when I turn the Everse up loud. I think this is because it is a composite cab, and also not as well braced as the LFSys cab. There’s no contest for me. Having the prototype LFSys 8” cab to compare to the Everse shows how much better having a dedicated, properly braced, rigid bass cab sounds at high volume. I’ve sold the Everse 8 and accepted that what I need for busking is more speaker size and power. I did a lot of testing out of portable camping batteries and the Jackery Explorer 300+ is where I landed. I’ve solved a significant EMI noise problem with that, and will simply use my well used B-Amp with an LFSys cab and the Jackery. I accept better/louder sound will now need a bigger carry - so got my luggage trolley back out. I now await an LFSys Goodwood 10” with great anticipation.’ I’ll update the thread here once I get my new Goodwood.
  4. Ok, just stuck stainless steel Dragon Skins on my dual Precision pickup bass. 45-100. They are very sticky to start off with - as @Jamieboy said. They sound like Hi Beams to me (Fat Beams have a little bit more in the mids). They feel looser tension than Elixirs. As Jamie said, they are not as smooth as Elixirs. I’m not sure I feel a mega difference between these and other DR strings. I’ll play with these for a while and report back.
  5. Bargainous!! Good luck with the sale John.

  7. Hopefully better than I did...I could'nt find the right size of threaded insert for the thumb screws to go into, so I just drilled into wood. Somewhere in the comments on that video is a comment that says the right kind of insert (I think...).
  8. Yes, it is. I have had an issue on my Precision with it. Turns out my Precision doesn’t have pickup polepieces that are grounded. So, if I don’t have a good path to ground (e.g. because the strings are coated in non-conductive material), I get a ton of noise touching the polepieces. Like when Elixirs are installed.
  9. Good responses. I’m going to try these Dragon Skins out then. Though one thing I need to check - do they allow strings to ground properly at the bridge? (i.e. Is the coating conductive?)
  10. Hello all Cleaning out the parts cupboard. I somehow have accumulated 3 sets of these Hipshot Licensed Ultralite 1/2” Clover tuners in chrome. All in great condition/fully working as you would expect. I love these tuners - great value. I’m going to suggest £70 shipped in the UK for each set. First come, first served! Now down to 1 set after 2 sets sold. All sold. Pete
  11. I meant to say. Here’s what these Turner pickups sound like with an ACG EQ01 preamp - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bDxJtT8a3cc And here’s what they sound like with the Lusithand Double NFP (the Mark 1 version, not the Mark 2). - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gAMnqz6Uoic They sound great with the preamp in this body - the Double NFP mark 2.
  12. Hey all Bought by accident - meant to get steels, not nickels. Ah well. My loss is someone else’s gain. £30 posted in the UK seems a reasonable discount. Pete
  13. Hey all Bought for a bass that I sold, so never used these. DR Pure Blues 45-130. &nbsp £35 shipped in the UK. Pete
  14. Removed from another project bass I was making. I bought this new. This is a clean and clear Glockenklang preamp. It’s in full working order. https://www.glockenklang.de/en/products/bass_systems/onboard_2-band.htm Volume, Balance, Treble and Bass controls with passive tone circuit activated from Push/Pull volume control. Specs from the Glockenklang website: ‘Onboard preamp 2-band The GLOCKENKLANG 2-band onboard preamp is active/passive switchable (at the volume push/pull), has a balance-pot with no volume dip in center-position, a treble-pot with +/- 18 dB@18 KHz in active mode, acting as classical highcut in passive mode and a bass-pot with +/- 14 dB@40 Hz. Battery-connection is 9 / 18 volts. Due to the high performance electronic, in flat position of the eq you can hear no difference between active and passive mode! It comes pre-wired with highflexible cables.‘ £69 plus shipping. Sold. Pete
  15. Hey all Since I have a fully working Wal-ish Mark 2 bass after all my YouTube adventures, I’m selling off the Mark 1 Wal-ish bass. Well, most of it, since I’ve used the neck somewhere else for a project. So I guess there are 2 ways to do this. The first way is I sell everything here as a unit, and someone gets a bargain for the loaded body. Stick a neck and strings on, you’re good to go. A fretless neck would be ideal for this. The second way is that folks want different bits of it and I part it out as people ask for them. I’d update the thread as we go, in that case. I don’t mind which way it sorts itself out. The body is an alder MIM Fender Precision Bass with a custom black pickguard. Fully loaded with all parts, it weighs 3.17kg. Unloaded of the parts apart from the pick guard, it weighs 2.52kg. The loaded body has the Turner SPSC multicoil pickups with parallel, single coil, and series switching for both pickups. These are hooked up to the newest Lusithand Double NFP Preamp Mark 2 and loaded with the Lusithand Knobs. The pickups are placed where Wal Mk1 pickups sit. These bridge is an aluminium Hipshot A bridge, and the body has a battery box and Dunlop Straplocks. These are of course all premium parts. Cost for the fully loaded body - £469. Shipping is additional to this. This is a great deal for someone, the cost of parts and work to get something like this is obviously much higher. ————— The other way is for the individual parts to be sold off as folks ask for them. This will mean the pickups need rewired to the switches etc as they don’t all come out whole. 1. Turner SPSC multicoil pickups with switches - details at https://reverb.com/uk/item/50385599-turner-pickups-multicoil-4-string-mc4-n-spsc. These will cost you £310 + shipping + import fees from USA for you to buy a set presently. £229 2. Lusithand Double NFP Preamp, Mark 2. This is the newest version with all the latest features like the attack switch. The knobs will come as part of the preamp if desired. Details at https://lusithanddevices.com/product/double-nfp/. New with knobs, it is £220. To you as individual part, £149. 3. Hipshot A bridge in Aluminium. This allows string through bridge stringing if wanted (not used on this build here though). £49 4. Heavily customised Fender MIM Precision Bass body in Electron Blue with custom pickguard, Dunlop straplocks, battery box, and side jack. Some light scratches as photographed. £99 Shipping is additional to all prices. Pete
  16. I’m getting a little tired of the higher tension of Elixir SS, even the lighter sets. I do like how smooth they feel though. Does anyone know if the Dragon Skin steels feel very grippy? I might try the quantum nickels if so…or maybe I’ll get round to the Rotosound Nexus sets I keep thinking about…
  17. Agreed @eude - I prefer @stevie’s designs! I have a feeling the TE Elf 1x10 will have to truncate the top and bottom end a fair bit, focusing on mid range efficiency. And I did briefly own a BF One10 (non tweeter) but found it a bit too coloured for my taste. And not enough ‘ping’ without a tweeter. Also the low end was tighter than I wanted…but they are very power efficient cabs… The Goodwood is massive by comparison to the others. So would have much bigger low end. And the compression driver is excellent. I’m looking at a novel solution for busking power. https://www.amazon.co.uk/ALLPOWERS-Portable-41600mAh-Generator-Emergency/dp/B09M3S5H9M?th=1&psc=1
