  1. Ah, Audere, I forgot about them. Nice preamps. Now I think about it, the Lusithand Double NFP must have a pickup buffer as well….?
  2. Nice. The Noll MixPot looks good. https://www.noll-electronic.de/bass-electronics/mixpot/ As for EMG. It looks like EMG does one system that straight up is what I could use out of the box - https://www.emgpickups.com/bass/accessories/btssystemhz.html They also do something like the Noll MixPot, which you use in front of a lot of their other EQ systems - an active blend control - https://www.emgpickups.com/bass/accessories/abc.html @Hellzero I found a Bartolini buffer as well. https://bartolini.net/product/agb I wonder if any of the Bart preamps have buffering without having to use the buffer listed above. It doesn’t look like it from their website. Great suggestions guys. Thanks.
  3. Hello all Looking for the hive mind to offer input. I have a pair of beautiful sounding humbuckers that lose just a little too much high end in a passive circuit with 2 x 500K volume pots and 1 x 500K tone pot. I'm looking at options for buffering them to regain some of the top end. I know the John East Uni Pre and the J Retro have pickup buffering built into them. Do any other preamps have this as well? Pete
  4. I’m just editing a video now that reviews the new Lusithand Double NFP Special Mark 2. It’s an excellent preamp with some very good new features.
  5. Also, Nuno at Lusithand now makes his own Wal style knobs.
  6. The parts clear out continues. Up next is a rather nice Fender Jazz neck (maple on maple) with fitted Hipshot HB7 tuners and a custom string retainer. The truss rod works, the frets are even and plenty of wear left, it's a comfortable profile (I think a Modern C). It just works, not sure what else to say. The photos hopefully speak for themselves. The tuners are in good condition - one is slightly sticky and needs some grease - but otherwise are fine. The retainer is custom made and rather snazzy, I think. I can include screws but no neck plate. £250 posted in the UK. Pete

  7. Hey all I've been tinkering so much with basses that I have accumulated a lot of excellent parts. Many of which I'm no longer using. This falls into that category. If you're looking at this ad, you likely already know what this is. If not, here's a link to John East's page on it - https://www.east-uk.com/product/acg-eq-01-filter-pre-amp/?v=79cba1185463 I have extensively documented my use of this preamp in my thread on emulating a Wal, and in videos. It sounds great. HAlfway through this video I give it a good demo - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDxJtT8a3cc&list=PLSHz31mSGJJxe1vpRBQ_Kzen08nJ7mCy-&index=9 I haven't seen any of these in production for a while, nor secondhand. They seem scarce. This is fully working. Comes with output jack. No battery clip or knobs though. Base price is £250 + VAT new (so £300). Price for this posted in the UK is £199. Happy to take payment by Paypal or bank transfer. Pete
  8. Hello all I have waaaaay tooo many parts now from basses I have tinkered with. This is nearly new, I put it in a bass last week to check it worked, but otherwise have never ended up using it in a project. Link to John's website here - https://www.east-uk.com/product/j-tone/?v=79cba1185463. It's an excellent 2 band preamp that doesn't alter the passive tone of the instrument. It comes with the bag of tone caps that you can use to change the passive tone cap value. It's a very handsome version with a mix of black and chrome knobs. I still have another just like it on my Squier. New price is £175 (after you include VAT, which John doesn't on his base prices). This one is £115 posted. Price includes postage to UK. Happy to take payment by bank transfer or Paypal. Pete
  9. That’s a very cool find. I’m going to try a play with those settings.
  10. I also vouch for this, having played all of @stevie's cabs. The Monza, Monaco, and Silverstone are all completely viable one cab solutions. My choice has been the Silverstone.
  11. Hi all I list this as it needs some repair work, and I don't have the time to be able to do it. This is the well known John East Uni Pre, 4 knob version. I bought it on here second-hand but only recently used it, and it seems to have some issues. Volume, bass/treble, and passive tone all work fine. Active-passive switch fine. The system sounds good, and you can tweak the bass EQ and treble shelf easily using the internal thumb wheels. That's the good part. The mid pots work, but it sounds more like a Wal-style filter EQ in use. This is not how it's meant to sound, and I ended up simply disabling the whole mid module by setting the jumpers appropriately on the board. It probably needs a new mid module. Once everything was wired up, I found it was eating through batteries. That may have been my own cack-handedness in wiring up somewhere, or it may be there's a connection somewhere leading to it being 'always on'. I can't tell, and I don't have time to spend troubleshooting it, so I simply removed it. These are £235 new and working, so I have heavily discounted it to allow for the time/part costs it needs for troubleshooting. £50 posted in the UK. Pete
  12. I’m not sure either! lol. John East would be able to answer…
  13. Is the the flat EQ version or the ‘gentle EQ curve built in’ version?
  14. I’m ready for your video, once you have made it…
  15. I had a shot at cloning a Wal. Did a whole series of videos…. Maybe just go to my last one!
  16. I like the title just fine. 😁
  17. I keep toying with getting an M-Vave Chocolate midi controller. Anyone care to give their opinion on it and/or the kit that comes with wireless midi?
  18. Ooh, another set of pickups for folks to try. Very interesting….what are the dimensions/format? What is the ‘formula’? - ceramic magnets, winds per coil, wire type and size, keepers, etc etc?
  19. Great basses. I love my one, the ebanol board sounds great with rounds. GLWTS
  20. Absolutely fine with me, it’s a useful and relevant part of the overall investigation into Wals.
