Free made 7 albums and all people play is All Right Now and Wishing Well. I purposely learnt Walk in My Shadow, Ride on a Pony, Heartbreaker and one other that I can't remember the name of just to be bl00dy awkward. BTW, the new tracks on MySpace, more cracking stuff.

I was talking to a bloke this morning who played two sets (one Friday and one Saturday) at a vintage car or steam rally, can't remember which. On the Friday he played for 6hrs and on the Saturday for 8hrs. He was still buzzing this morning, the gig went so well, and he simply couldn't stop smiling. A little bit of that would do me.

After having a lesson on Tuesday, my strap length has gone a little higher so I now also play with the bass in the same position sat down or stood up. Also, the tutor pointed out my fingering on my fretting hand was not all it could be. Unfortunately changing is proving a little difficult and I can only play for about 15mins at a go at the moment as it stretches my fingers a lot (old habits die hard). There is no way I could get a decent technique with a low strap. Overall then a pointless thread.

Not for me that one. I'm not too far from Mansons either and I've got to say I've never been in there. I've checked out the prices online and had to go and sit down with a cuppa.

It's definitely coming from the body, and I think Clarky is right, it may even be something in the battery compartment. TBH I think I'm probably the only one who notices it I've checked for bees and none were found SP thanks for the suggestion.

Just got home, and no it can't be the truss rod, your right it must be a spring or other small part in the body as that's where it's coming from. TBH it's barely audible and it's just me wanting everything perfect. New rule, don't play acoustically at 11pm when you can hear a pin drop Thanks mate, put my mind to rest. Cheers

Thanks Clarky. I stuck my ear to the back of the bass last night and it could be emanating from the pick-up springs, I lowered the bridge pick-up recently and I suppose it may be a case that it's buzzing sympathetically. I don't think it's the bridge but I couldn't say for sure. I was worried it might be the truss rod but I'm probably getting into one of my nervous flaps.

I noticed last night, after unplugging my bass and playing acoustically, that when I pluck the strings I'm getting a, albeit [u]very[/u] quite, buzz. I put my ear to the body of my bass and it sounds like the strings are making something resonate, but I can't work out what. It does it on open and fretted notes and definitely isn't fret buzz. It doesn't seem to be getting picked up when playing through an amp.

Hmmm, well I spent this evening putting in some practice, not all slap, and it sort comes in fits and bursts - sort of 4 notes followed by pregnant pause then f@ck up. I say 4 notes, but 2 are dead, bit like me, in fact most of the time all the 'notes' I think I deadened them. Sure is going to take some practice.

Excuse me as I go and sit in the corner for being stupid. I've been around the forum for long enough to know who slaps, their names are regular features, dear o dear. Thanks for the names and the you tube link.

Mark King and Flea aside, I don't really know any slappers. I had a lesson last night and my teacher, to break the lesson up, introduced a bit of slap as I said I'd never tried. Although I didn't do very well it's something I'll keep having a go at as I quite enjoyed it. So who are the well known slappers, just so I can listen and watch maybe.

My action is probably quite high. However, I borrowed a bass last year and the action was so high the previous owner must have been William Tell and he used it to take pot shots at apples. It was near impossible to play.
