I've got to say Chris , this is going to be a bargin for someone .
These older ones are great , and for me , this age , proper thru neck , and this particular colour , make this for me , the best S2 you can get .

If I had a grand to spare , I'd be all over this , as I suspect would others .

Have a free bump (all I can financially do I'm afraid) , for one of the best Status examples I've seen in ages .

Just hope you don't regret selling . But hey , that's what happens one here isn't it . hehe

Hi guys . Bit of a long shot this , but here goes .

Around this time last year , there was a green burst Vigier Passion on Ebay , that sold , then was relisted , but don't know if it sold the 2nd time .

Does anybody remember it ? Or even own it ?

I'm now looking to shift a few bits , and I've lost the guy's number , to see if he still has it (he was in Staffordshire , I think) .

If anybody knows who has it , I really would like to maybe make an offer .

Long shot , this , I realise . But you never know .

I remember Flea once saying that the album "One Hot Minute" , was all recorded on an Alembic . With maybe "Aeroplane" done on a Stingray .

He was a tad sketchy on this , athough he was pretty sure .

I think most bass sounds on record (apart from a handful) , will be impossible to instrument pinpoint .

Downham Market tonight , a new pub for us .
Cracker of a gig . Only issue was the access for the toilet was through the band . One of the guitarists and I had to be on our toes for that .
Used the Eden cab again tonight , and it sounded awesome . Seriously thinking about maybe getting shot of the light weight cabs , 'cause there's just something about that cab , for me - but it is a weighty beast . Though I only carry it from my front door to the car , so not such a massive issue .

I'll make up my mind one day .

Just a late one . Don't start till 10:15 , and finish at 1:15 - the only downer about this place .

I have to agree with whats been said regarding keeping it 'in house' (in the UK) .

Some names have been bandied about , but will they build you what you really want ?

The quality will be comparable with anything overseas , from what I've seen and played , but the build will be within parameters (how narrow , depending on the builder) . You may not have an issue with this , but to get everthing you want in a bass (and that's assuming that it will all 'join up and work') , you may have to look at a small one man band . You then obviously run the risk that the quality may not be up to a 'SEI' or 'SHUKER' type tolerance of workmanship .

I've done maybe a handful of this type of gig , and they're gigs to savour . You'd do them for nothing if you had to , and not even worry about it .

Dep gig on a wedding .
My mate's got major problems with his heart again , so I covered for him .
Been months since my last dep , and years since I last did a wedding with a function band .
Loads to learn (though most I remembered) , but all in odd keys . Dusted out the music stand and had about a day or two to learn the sets (good ol Youtube) .
Massive high ceilinged room and a hollow stage , so the sound was as best as it could get .
The groom wanted to get up and do Mustang Sally , which meant I didn't have to play that pile of crap . When he took my bass , and the band started , he did some sort of move across the stage that can be best described as a cross between the James Brown shuffle and Wilco Johnson's move . He was mashed , and he couldn't even handle a 3 chord bash Though I did get to ogle the women brought up to sing (if it can be called that) backing vocals . Still they had a good time , it was a laugh , and it broke the evening up nicely .
I thought we had a lot of gear with the pub band , and I've sort of forgotten the amount of PA needed for these events (I don't know why as I used to lug it all around before) .

Still , good gig , not too late (though had to set up early and come back) , and earnt exactly 5 times what I normally do in a pub - jobs a good'n .

Another bike rally - in Felixstowe this time .

Decent sized marque , really good PA and 2 men supplied . Been used at other gigs done by us , and good guys and good sound (a rare bonus theses days)

Cranked up the rig , and the amp was breaking up just nicely on some numbers . Again thinking of a CA-9 maybe for these sized gigs , just worry about my poor little amp taking such a battering

Decent money , not too late , no PA to pack up , tasty burger van on site , good crowd response - what more can you ask for on a Friday night . And to think I get paid for poncing about , and people to think that we're great . Worth all the hasstle sometimes , ain't it ?

I detune to a D on about 3 songs , and to a C on 2 .
Never had any real issue . Though I'm lucky , in that my main bass has quite high tension (graphite neck and thru body stringing) .
The E string down to a C is not as tight as it could be , but it's still tighter than many 5 strings I've played and owned over the years , and I have no real issues adjusting to it .
I've found that any drop tuning , regarding success or not , can be down to the bass as much as the strings .

This is an older one , and I suspect it's a graphite neck model , and been painted over (the refin he mentined)

Another bike rally yesterday .
One of the guitarists has finally got rid of his 4x12 , and got himself a 1x12 combo (all that's needed) - hooray
Stuck it on the drummers hardware flightcase coffin . It was now right near my earholes - not so hooray.

Problem boom in the room - E note , had to be , doh .
Tried my new Iron Ether Oxide , but need to get to grips with it first .

I can see where he's coming from ...... to a degree .
He's stated in another interview that Jaco's impact was so great on fretless , that every other player was deemed to be compared to him , whether by design or not .

I quite like Jeff . I don't always agree with the stuff he sprouts out , nor do I go a lot on his music , but he says it as he sees it . In a similar forthright way that Anthony Jackson sometimes does , or even Scott Thunes .

He admitted Jack Bruce as being a non Jaco clone , with his 'fart' bass sound . As others have said - Mick Karn was unique . I can hear an influence with John Giblin , but I'd say he's a far more 'rounded player' that Jaco ever was .

Like any chosen instument , sometimes the differences can be subtle from player to player , and with fretless the sound IS quite unique .

I think he's playing Devils advocate here , as he always does . Probably best not to listen to the guy . Which is shame , because what he has to impart to Bass players , always seems to be drowned out by this sort on nonsense .

Maybe that's why I can't hear or see any difference with mine in or out .
Perhaps I need to look into it a bit more , but I've A/B'd it and I don't hear a lot .
I've swung the E string right down to a low G (2 tones below a low , and the volume of the note was the same . I thought it was suppose to cut off anything below 30hz , but it sounds exactly the same .
I play an Eden amp , so perhaps it's got a cut off in it already , I don't know .
I've tried the test as per the clip with the speaker movement , and it's all the same to my eyes .
Maybe it's subtle , and I'm not seeing or hearing it , or perhaps I'm just expecting too much from a pedal that is possibly mild in nature .

Anyone here A/B'd to see a difference .

Ages ago Luke , and I can't remember much about it . I seem to think it was a bit dead . Why is it really dodgy .
We sometimes branch out a bit and play newer places (for us) , and it's handy to know the boozers to steer clear of . I can't be doing with the scrapping at gigs anymore , I'm far more into good crowds that are into their music , and have a healthy ratio of fit birds
