Correct. What was I thinking.

We have some "done to death" numbers in our setlist but not the original versions and they go down really well because they are a bit different. It's a 10 piece Soul Band with three vocalists and obviously we don't fit in the Dog and Duck but they work at Weddings, Corporate, Festivals.
Seven Nation Army - Ben L'Oncle Soul
Mercy - The Third Degree
Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor - Baby Charles

Bargain, absolute bargain.

Would an East/ACG 01 filter or a Lutishand filter pre amp do the job?
Separate filter stack for each pickup so you can shape the tone of each one.

Tower of Power popped up in my Recommendations on YouTube last night. Wow, I’m embarrassed to say I’ve not listened to them before!
My favorite band of all time. Rocco and his 16th note bass lines are awesome.
Only so much Oil in the ground.
What is Hip
Squib Cakes
Digging on James Brown
Funk the Dumb Stuff
You Ought to be Having Fun
Ain't Nothing Stopping Us Know.
All worth a listen. I didn't mention them as they don't seem to be that well known in spite of going for 55 years.
Horn players seem to know them. Probably something to do with having a 5 piece horn section.

These are tunes that I wouldn't necessarily consider to be funk in their original form, except maybe Cissy Strut.
Yep,I tend to agree. The jams were more Jazz/Funk jams which is where the HH material crept in.
One jam night I used to go to wasn't funk specific but there used to be some great horn players turning up occasionally and then you'd get some good funk fodder.
Shake everything you got - Maceo Parker
Pick Up the Pieces - AWB
Cut the Cake - AWB
Memphis Soul Steve - King Curtis
Tell Me Something Good - Rufus
Low Rider - War
Love Studio Jams.

I've done a couple a while back. IIRC
these figured in them.
Cissy Strut - The Meters
Cantaloup Island - Herbie Hancock
Watermelon Man - Herbie Hancock
Chameleon - Herbie Hancock

Re. The 12” you mention. Was that the double 12” containing both tracks? That was fairly collectible for a while…
Yep, 1999 on the A side and Little Red Corvette on the B.

Had the pleasure of seeing him a couple of times. Absolutely mesmerising live.
I've still got the 12" vinyl if 1999/ Little Red Corvette.
Fave track/performance is something he wrote for Maurice Day and The Time and performed live on the Welcome to America tour. "Cool"

I'm tempted at the very least to it back to a passive instrument befitting it's vintage more, and the nut needs repairing on the low E side, though it isn't affecting playability at the moment (possibly thanks to being fretless?)
If you plan to go passive it might mean new pickups as those EMG's could be active.
That said the pickups plus the preamp are pretty saleable to offset the cost.

Do they not pack together like the RCF Evox then?
Nope.

Almost 50kg? I hope you're all strong lads.
That is over the three components. When broken down it's a lot more manageable.

We had a pair of Maui 11's for years. I know it's not the same beast but the technology is the same.
They were amazing and handled everything we threw at them.
Five piece band with a k/b player, eight piece with brass section, no problem.
We even used a single unit in a function room of 250 people and it handled it.
I can only assume the 44's are even better.

These guys from Scotland are awesome. Saw them a few months ago and booked again in Oct. Tom McGuire and the Brassholes.

A friend of mine made a cab himself which sounds amazing.
There are a number of self build plans on here that are available.
All have been properly designed and thoroughly tested.

If you use Facebook it might be worth asking on the ACG Owners group.

As someone who has tried a ton of different amps over the years, before going ampless, I found Ashdown to be my favourite.
The Rootmaster is a fabulous amp if you want lightweight. The ABM is industry standard and I loved the Retroglide.
The other advantage with Ashdown is that they have the best customer service on the planet. The can repair anything they have ever produced and are more than reasonable.

Scarf joint looks clean, I recon a good gluein' by someone who knows what they are doin'... good to rescue a meaningful bass.
I'm sure @Andyjr1515 and the like can offer some sound advice on how to go about it...
My thoughts exactly.

I am considering getting a Mezzo. What's the approximate weight?
Just weighed one if my 5 strings and it's 3.3kg or 7lb 6oz in old money.
I would imagine the 4 strings would be a bit lighter.

There's a dedicated thread on medium scales.
The Ibanez Mezzo PJ is 38mm - they are great (I have 2)

I've got two 5 string Mezzos. Astonishing value for money and I keep getting positive comments from sound guys.

Nothing obvious. Looks like a standard "jazz bass" type setup other than the EMG's are active.
Could be the tone pot or capacitor is goosed. There's not much else to go wrong with that setup.

Seek medical advice if it is bothering you. You will get a million different diagnoses from any Internet forum.
I would get an expert's advice.
