1. Hi, after a little advice on the best way to fill the screw holes on the back of the headstock. The old holes are just slightly out of line so will need to use a product that is a) able to be inserted into the tiny holes that are there already, and will be able to cope with being re-drilled once hardened. Any ideas?
2. Thanks for all the reply's. The idea about pick-up magnets affecting it only came to me tonight, so i thought i would ask on here as i won't be able to check with the doc's till after the bank holiday. Gonna be so gutted if i'm not able to play anymore, already been told that it's about 90% probable that i will have to give up my job as a welder.
3. Bit of a weird one this, but i've just had an ICD pacemaker/defribulator fitted and have been told i have to avoid strong magnetic forces. Anybody else on here have one, and do you know if there is any risk to the device from pick-up magnets, or speaker cone magnets?

6. Hi, doing a cheap(ish) p-bass rebuild myself and was interested to know weather the wiring was re-soldered as you found it, or did you reposition any of the wires/capacitor, as the wiring on my p-bass seems to be totally different. Thanks, Rob.
7.
ive got a carbon fibre one my mate mad me at work somewhere
That sounds incredibly cool.
8.
That's lush The bass... not the crazy dressed up Ox dude.
+1000 If i bought basses on looks alone, i would have one already.
9. Just wondered if anybody had any experiance with these basses. Having trouble finding one local to try.
10. Last week i found myself searching high and low for a pick but could not find one for the life of me, so in a moment of desperation, i nicked the sim card out of an old mobile phone and gave that a blast and it worked a treat, so good infact that now find myself reaching for my vodafone special rather than using a regular pick. Just wondered if anybody else was using anything different from the norm?
11. Worth a punt if you're local (unfortunatly i'm not). Re-sell the amp and pedal and i reckon you should end up with a cheap Status bass. 12. Bought some strings from this guy, really good to deal with and quick to post out items.
13. Listed in title and info box as a Fender, but the word Westfield crops up in the discription. 14.
That'll be because the originals seem to be made from chewing gum & bend under string tension. This was mine when I got it: I've seen quite a few which have done this, seems to be a rare quality oversight from Matsumoku. I managed to find an older, more solid base/body fro mine, from Howard Bass Doc. Anyway read all about it here.. J.
Are the bridges on these the same fitment as the Gibson EB-0?
15.
First time I've heard anyone mention those on here! My mum handed me down one as my first bass in black with a tort pickguard. I still have it - the pickups are great! Had to change to bridge too though, weird curved thing it was! I haphazardly stuck a badass imitation on it (had to fit a shim in the hole) and it's still awesome. The stock pickups are great (EMG??) - really high output! I'm not using it for gigs at the moment because of an earthing issue I can't be arsed to get sorted. Probably should though... Great little instrument it is! Couple of months back I grabbed a Schecter Stiletto Custom 5 (the natural finish ones with gold hardware) + Warwick Rockbag + a Tuner for £175 delivered from eBay. This I have strung with Rotosound Tru Bass strings and use for all my gigs at the moment. It's an absolute steal and why I can gladly part ways with my Stingray 5!
Pickups on the Westbury are Di Marzio's, old Model P's i think. Awesome sounding basses. I had one as my first bass about fifteen years ago and regreted getting rid of it so much, i finally bought another one a couple of weeks ago. Any chance of some pics of your bridge conversion?
16. I have got to get me one of these. Anybody know of a uk stockist?
17. Hi, if you decide to split this stuff, i would be interested in the tuners dependent on size of the mounting plates and condition, and maybe also the neckplate and string tree.
18. Guess i'm going to be in the minority here, but i think it looks awful. Always disliked red on red, but red on pink is just wrong.
19.
These are about the same size as full size Hipshot or Schaller, I presume? So they should fit standard Fender headstock, right? And sorry for hijacking this thread.
I was trying to fit them to an early Encore P-Bass which has a headstock similer in size (i think) to the Fender, but the top base plate overhung by about 2mm at the corner. I think the gotoh tuners are also about the same size so after having a scout around for something smaller i came across some made by a company called Dr Parts. Hopefully they will be ok for what i want.
20. Have a look here at the thread i posted last week. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=78850
21. Bought these off Ebay for my Encore P-Bass project, but the mounting plates are too big. Look to be in new condition, but missing half a dozen mounting screws(no biggie). Would like to get back what i paid for them which was £12.50 inc post, or make take trades, why.
22. Quick update, couple of changes to the build spec due to some bargain Ebay purchases. Tuners will now be Wilkinson, which although not as big a "name" as Gotoh, do a great job of keeping my Vintage bass in tune so that's good enough for me. The pickups are now going to be WD Kent Armstrong PBV's, these seem to get a good review so i thought i give them a go as they were so cheap (£16 for an unused set off Ebay). Figure if i don't like them i can always fit Seymour's at a later date. I'm now also in possesion of a Gotoh 201 bridge and a swithcraft jack socket, both in gold, and my original scratchplate has been sent off to The Bass Doc to be matched and replaced. Finally i decided to shield the cavity with tape and not paint as, after doing a little research it seems like the paint doesn't work as well as the tape. This is now done and a pic is below.
23.
For comedy value we could also have Chew Magna, Curry Rivel, and Nimlet
I vote for Curry Rivel, lived there for thirty years and still work there. On a serious note, venue wise, it does have a decent enough village hall with three seperate rooms, next-door to a pub/restaurant and within spitting distance of a decent sized free car park.
