1.
Hi I have this for sale £850 Lakland DJ5 https://www.dropbox....415xzij/Dj5.jpg G.
Awesome bass but after an active 5-string unfortunately All the best for your sale.
2.
Hi Erisu, That is a lovely bass. A word of advice though: before you sell it, try to tune your bass to DEAB (or BEAD as I would say it). Keep the G-string and if you don't like the BEAD-tuning, you can still change the strings and sell the bass. If you do like the BEAD-tuning, you might need to tweak the bass a little (trussrod-adjustment, widen the nut) but you can first try it without any adjustment, just to see if you like it. I have done this and loved it. Now all my 4-string basses are tuned BEAD (I also have two 5-stringers). Greetings, Geert
Thanks Geert It looks like I'm more willing to sell or trade this bass now as I was looking at the songs I play in my band and I actually would need to use the G-string more than I thought I would as well as benefiting from the bass being tuned DEAB (or BEAD low to high). Shame really as I have been trying to think of excuse's to keep this bass but it seems like a 5-string is the way to go for me
3. Hey guys! I'm basically in need of a 5-stringer hence the sale. Absolute perfect condition with no dings or scratches on this baby as I've always treated this bass as the only bass I would keep for life so it always goes straight back into my gig bag after play. I've owned this bass from new since 2009 imported straight from Japan and it's been my main bass ever since and has never, ever let me down. I've had so much history with this baby as I've had my first gig with her! For those who don't know the Edwards brand, they're a sub-brand that's manufactured by ESP Japan and yes these are Made In Japan. Specs. are: BODY(Top) Quilted Maple, (Back) Ash NECK Hard Maple FINGERBOARD Maple, 21frets RADIUS 240R SCALE 864mm NUT Bone (38mm) INLAY Black Acrylic Dot JOINT Bolt-on TUNER GOTOH GB11W BRIDGE GOTOH 404BO-4 PICKUPS (Neck) Seymour Duncan SJB-1n and (Bridge) Seymour Duncan SJB-1b PARTS COLOR Chrome CONTROLS Master Volume, PU Balancer, 2BAND EQ(Treble,Bass) More info: http://www.espguitar...E-AM-128QM.html Now for some eye candy! 4. Hey all! First of all TGI Friday everyone! So I've given up my chase of a Warwick bass as they're just ridiculously overpriced no matter where I buy anywhere in the world! So I've decided to pimp up my existing bass I'm thinking of getting a custom neck. The current neck is a maple neck and fretboard with black dot inlays. The biggest change of wood material is the neck: - Bubinga Pommele Neck - Birdseye Maple Fretboard - Black Pearloid Crown Inlays - illuminated side dots - Jumbo bronze frets I'm keeping the rest of the bass but how much will the major change in wood to Bubinga affect the tone of the bass? Thanks all!
5. Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys! Much appreciated! Sound like the majority of people are just happy with other alternatives. I've been searching again just now for Warwicks and it seems like I could import one from Japan but it's all new old stock from 2011/2012 for about £1,700 inc. shipping, import tax etc... which screams it's abit expensive for a new old stock so going to explore ways into getting a custom I guess.
6.
I'm in the "if you want a Warwick, only a Warwick will do" camp and I've had several (all German-made). As has been said, why would anyone buy new when there are good (read "as new") secondhand examples around for one-third of the new price. For Warwick, that does not spell long-tem success. Looking on the bright side, if no-one is buying new Warwicks, the value of mine must go up one day, surely, as the supply of secondhand ones dries up?
Exactly what I'm thinking! So many 2nd hand Warwicks around going for a good amount of money but I'm abit of a bass snob I have to say as buying 2nd hand is out of the question for me for a main work horse bass, but for backup bass it would be no problem lol This definitely is not a long-term success for Warwick if this is the road they're going to take sadly saying Hey Jacqueslemac, just curious how much do your $$ Corvette's weigh?
7.
good man I can't say enough good things about my Alpher,i just bloody well love it It has a Wenge neck too - i always liked a nice bit of Wenge. Alpher are awesome to deal with too, highly reccommeded.
That sounds very cool! How long did you wait for the bass to finish from the day of payment to the day you got the bass? Any sound clips by any chance? Or is there a thread anywhere of your build diary?
The problem with Warwicks is they are often great basses with a remarkable sound, but at just about every level , it seems that you can do so much better for the money you would have to spend . A custom shop Warwick could easily set you back as much as a Fodera/ F Bass/ Wal/Spector,ect, all of which are much better basses of a comparable style , and much better investments of that kind of cash.
That's true - though what I love about Warwicks is it feels like quite an exclusive club to be in and as they refer their customers as "being in the Warwick family" There's just something Warwicks that I love, even if other basses are better bought for better investment, a Warwick will always be a Warwick
8.
check out Alpher instruments,a search on here will bring a few basses up mine included. I have owned three Warwicks in the past & my Alpher kind of reminds me of them only much better. Plus a sexy custom from these guys is cheaper than a stock Warwick.
Amen Artisan! I have them on Facebook, I was discussing a custom neck with them before for my current bass. Chris is a very knowledgeable guy too!
9. I once owned a Corvette many moons ago, tone was thick and very growly! The neck wasn't thin but it wasn't chunky for me, but it did feel very, very nice! I'm now thinking of looking for Warwick alternatives! Anyone know of any similar sounding basses? I'm specifically looking for that growly tone that the Wicks produce Probably go custom from a luthier using exotic body woods will maybe work out the same as a standard mass production bass?
10. Thanks for your responses guys! Yes it does seem like Warwick are just trying to push their Rockbass and Pro series basses but at a staggering price of nearly £1K, I think not! Makes me wonder how Warwick can survive in the long run if they're just not getting the correct distribution and dealerships! Are they solely just going to rely on their custom productions? Even a Warwick custom is getting ridiculously expensive now too! I've been trying to source a Warwick $$ Corvette from German music sites but even that I'm finding it difficult to find one for under £2K that's in stock! Warwick, what's going on?!?! Geek99 - Did you buy yours new or second hand?
11. Getting very interested in Warwick basses now, especially for their tone! Has anyone successfully bought a new German made Warwick from UK over this past year? I know there's a lot of stock problems with Warwicks. Emailed GAK the other day but they said they don't stock them any more even though they were listed as one of the dealers. I've emailed Playawayguitars.co.uk just now so just waiting for them to get back to me regards to availability and prices. Thanks all!

13. Hi all, I have a bass hard case for sale. I just bought a flight case today for a gig in Spain so I have no use for this hard case. Colour is black and with plush fur lining inside. It even still smells brand new when you open the case Comes with a set of keys for the lock. I don't have a picture of the actual case as I'm typing this at work at the moment but it's exactly identical as this ebay one here: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4600bed4c8 However there is one fingernail dent on the case. I've checked inside and the dent hasn't gone right through to the inside. I'm located near Heathrow in Hounslow (Within M25) but I work in Central London. Can pick up from Hounslow after 7:30 pm weekdays or I can meet you in Central London after 6 pm during weekdays. Will sell this for £20 Collection/meeting within London only. Thanks
14. Hey guys, I'm pondering around if I should buy insurance for my bass for a gig that's happening this Saturday in Spain. I'm flying via Ryanair and checking in the bass with a flight case (looks bullet proof to me!) but worried about if the bass will be stolen/damaged: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Spider-Aluminium-Rectangular-Bass-Hard-Flight-Case-/180830874213?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item2a1a5c2a65 I checked out Music Guard and their FAQs say I'm covered from theft/damage during transit providing a rigid/hard body case is used during transportation: https://www.jltonline.co.uk/secure/faq.asp?product=Music&promCode=&visitorSessionID={44FA281E-9C81-4996-B32B-E569D724E31A}&question=14 They quoted me £40 for the year. Anyone have any stories about theft/damage from a checked in instrument??? Thanks!
15.
I get a reply to prob 1 in 6, every 2 months or so? I wouldn't so much if I had the odd piccie so I know somethings happening, its kind of a nerd thing I have, to see the build process etc, otherwise I'd probably have bombed down to bass direct and bought something v nice "off the peg".
Totally agree with the nerd thing here Jon replied to every single one of my emails earlier this year with me chasing him. It was agreed he would have the bass completed by the start of the year... but then it got pushed back to March... then July/August... around that time things with my band died down so I didn't chase Jon as much but still sent him a email or two in a space of 2 weeks apart but I haven't received a reply since then. A phone call to him will be my next plan of action in January perhaps.
16. I'm waiting for my Shuker custom build as well. Paid a deposit of £530 so far last year September and haven't heard or seen anything yet. I asked specifically if he can send me pictures of the build process and he agreed but still not one picture so far. Not even sure if he's started building yet either so no idea where I am in the queue unfortunately. But I agree, he's pretty bad at communicating via email but I guess email is not for everyone. Luckily my band is sort of on a break at the moment so I don't need the bass that much... yet!

18. The bass looks fantastic! Ibanez BTB series is truely exceptional! I've had a chance to own the older BTB405 model when they weren't neck-thru's. The tone was there but my hands didn't get used to the width of the neck due to it being a 5-string. BTB's don't have the usual thin necks like the SR/SRX series so it'll suit people who like Ibanez basses but don't want a skinny neck Not to mention Brian is an awesome seller! I've recently purchased his SRX590 at a steal price and it's a fantastic piece of gear!
19. I have a feeling that the colour will camo with my jeans so making me more of a hazard on stage bump on this thread as well
20. Hey guys, Really good advice here with the wireless info! I'm looking into the Line 6 G30 too but I'm not sure if these will work abroad? My band had a gig in Barcelona and there were a few times when I nearly yanked the cable out of the amp. I'm not font of getting a longer cable either as it could get messy and more chances of me tripping over when I move about on stage. Does anyone know if these wireless systems have any problems working abroad?
21. Bought an ibanez srx590 from Brian. Bass arrived fast with no problems. Very well packaged for a bass comjng from Scotland to London. Kept me informed throughtout the transaction. A pleasant bass chatter to deal with =)
